Halo 4 War Games Daily and Weekly Challenges - 12/10/12

The Challenges:

We Are the Champions - Win 3 matchmaking Slayer matches. - 1500 XP
This is a pretty simple challenge, right? Slayer is the gametype for multiple playlists which include Infinity Slayer, Big Team Infinity Slayer, SWAT, and Team Slayer Pro. To win a game, you need to hit the point limit, six hundred points in all but Big Team, before the other team. Pretty simple. You will need three wins and join-in-progress wins do count. Now, you will want to make sure you pick maps that you know and that you have teammates that are competent and communicate. Have a quiet team will likely get you killed and the match lost. Three in a day should be pretty easy and you can work on "In Your Face" while you go for wins too.

In Your Face - Earn 25 CQC Medals. - 2800 XP
There are three Close Quarters Combat medals in Halo 4 and they are the Melee, Beat Down, and Bulltrue medals. Remember that, for the Beat Down medal, when behind an enemy, just tap melee instead of holding it to perform a Beat Down. To get these, you will typically want to be on a smaller map in an objective oriented game as it will allow you to get as many medals as possible. Oddball is typically good for close quarters combat on the smaller maps, especially if you have the ball or can use the ball-carrier to draw people in close range. As well, standard slayer games will work well too, just not as many medals per game. I would expect to get about six or seven of these per game when actually trying, though you will not see the Bull True that often.

The Weekly Challenges:
Fully Automated - Get 15 kills with an Automatic Loadout Weapon in a single match. - 6950 XP
This is not actually that hard of a Weekly Challenge but, man, they sure give you a bunch of experience points for it. So, automatic loadout weapons in Halo 4 include the Assault Rifle (AR), the Storm Rifle, and the Suppressor. Personally, I think the Assault Rifle is the best of the bunch as the Storm Rifle is to weak and the spread is way to large on the Suppressor. To score fifteen kills in a single game you will want a small map with an objective-type game. Going standard slayer will likely not fare well. Try for Oddball on a map like Haven. Use the stairways and alcoves to let people get close and then nail them with your choice automatic weapons. Fifteen kills in a single game may take a while, but you should have little problems.

In the Back - Assassinate 25 Players. - 4150 XP
So twenty-five assassinations this week. Sounds like fun. Well, first off, to score an assassination you need to be behind an opponent and hold the melee button. This will trigger and animation that needs to mostly complete for it to count. You have seven days to reach twenty-five so that means about four a day. Gametypes with no radar or long objective gametypes will suit you best in this endeavor. For Halo 4, Regicide (since everyone is focused on the King) and Team Slayer Pro are the best gametypes for me and I can typically score one or two assassinations a game. Do not try for an assassination out in the open since you will just get Showstopped or killed right afterwards. Beware of teammates too, as they enjoy stealing assassination kills in Halo 4 a lot more than Reach.
