Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/31/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Covenant-cide - Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1100cR
  • Three of the challenges today can be done in a single game.  That game should be Gruntpocalypse on Glacier.  This challenge is the only one that will prove annoying because there will be plenty of times where a grunt throws a grenade short and kills himself and/or other. The trick here is to shoot as soon as you see any enemies.
Hyper Lethal Vector - Kill 100 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • Like I just said, Gruntpocalypse on Glacier will net you this challenge in a single game.  Take your time and place your shots well.
Heroic Spelunking - Kill 100 enemies on Glacier on Heroic in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • Well, this is the reason I keep saying Glacier.  Not going to explain it beyond that
Points, Points - Score 20,000 points in a Firefight Matchmaking game.
  • Sadly, the most you are likely to hit on a game of Gruntpocalypse on Glacier is ten thousand points.  To hit twenty thousand, you will need to play Firefight Limited or Arcade.  I would go for Sniper Fight or Rocket Fight to ensure that you hit the required point value.  Be greedy.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/30/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Fire When Ready - Kill 50 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • This will hopefully pop while you go for your five wins for the day.  If you
Climb Points Mountain - Score 500,000 points on any Firefight map. - 1000cR
  • This challenge does not have to be done in Matchmaking, thankfully, because that would be impossible.  There are plenty of files on the Bungie.net Fileshares that will help you achieve this goal very fast.  Try this one or this one.
Hard Mode: Enabled - Complete a Campaign mission on Heroic with these skulls activated: None, Tough Luck, Thunderstorm, Tilt, Mythic. - 2500cR
  • Winter Contingency and Nightfall are the easiest for this challenge.  Check my LASO guide for Winter Contingency or Nightfall for the walkthroughs.  The game only has to be on Heroic so this should make it significantly easier.
Five-Time Champ - Win 5 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1750cR
  • Five wins is not to difficult but it will take time unless you find a good team.  Stay away from Free-for-Alls and Multi Team.  SWAT games will be fast but can be aggravating with a poor connection.  If you find a good team, stick with them and try to grind out the wins.

A Giveaway, Again? For a Third Time?

Yup.  Over at Marissa's Bunny, they still have a Halo Reach Xbox 360 to give away.  I just can't find a good home it seems.  The situation was...entertaining is a good word, after the last drawing.  I will simply quote the situation here.  Makes it much easier.

"If you don’t subscribe to our twitter feed, you missed a bit of drama yesterday.  The first winner, a 13 year old young man from the central US won the drawing, but his Father citing privacy concerns of his own refused to sign the paperwork accepting the consoles.  Reluctantly, we had to draw a second winner.

Congratulations to 71 year old Grandmother of 9 Peggle Helen from New Mexico.  In the spirit of the giveaway, she’s given almost everything in the bundle away.  One of the PS3s goes to the original winner, since now he won’t have to have his Father sign for it.  The second PS3 and the arcade xBox unit is going to her local Children’s hospital.  She’s keeping the Kinect, the Legendary Halo : Reach, and the Defiant map pack for her own pair of xBoxes she has and plays daily.

That leaves one thing.  The Reach xBox.  I’ll tell it in her own words from an email overnight.

“What the hell am I going to do with three xboxes, invite my other geriatric friends over for a party?  Do another giveaway, get more votes for your lovely little girl!”

Uh, okay.  It’s not such an epic bundle, but it’s still a fantastic prize.  We’ll call this one the “Grandma Gives Back” xBox giveaway.  Starting today and going until March 30th, and all going to one lucky winner, we’ve got:

  1. -A Reach Special Edition xBox 360 slim
  2. -A code for the Defiant Map Pack, courtesy 343 Industries

One person wins it all!"
          -Marissa's Bunny Blog

So......Maybe the Xbox is cursed?  I mean, two people have passed on it.  Hey, maybe you can be the third person.  I'm sure the wonderful people over at Marissa's Bunny would love nothing more than to do another giveaway.....

To see how you can decide the fate of this unfortunate, homeless, lonely Xbox, look here.  Good luck to all that enter!  You have until Friday, the 1st of April, at noon to enter.

The Challenges:
One Spartan Army - Kill 150 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1125cR
  • In Score Attack there are only, at most, a hundred and thirty Covenant for you to kill.  It is definitely possible to hit a hundred and fifty in Firefight Limited or Arcade but those games take much longer.  Time wise, you are better off in Score Attack.  As well, it will be easier to get Elite Kills if you are alone.
Demon - Kill 40 Elites in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1400cR
  • This can be hammered out in two games of 2X Score Attack since the last wave has about twenty-five to thirty Elites.  It will take you two games to get to a hundred and fifty kills for the "One Spartan Army" challenge anyway, so if you can make them to games of 2X Score Attack, you should be golden.  I would recommend picking a small map, like Courtyard, because it simply speeds up the process.
Mythic Bustin' - Complete a Campaign mission on Heroic or harder with the Mythic Skull on. - 1000cR
  • The Mythic Skull gives all enemies double health.  (To learn about skull and see what they do, click here.)  If you find this frightening or simply do not want to play through a higher level like this, you can load up Winter Contingency and run though most of it.  (See how here.)  The mission New Alexandria would also be simple since you spend most of your time in a Falcon.
Better, Closer, Warmer - Earn at least 7 kills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1000cR
  • Seven kills in a single game is one of the easier challenges Bungie has posted recently.  Games like SWAT, Multi Team, and Grifball should do fine for this challenge and you should have it finished within a single game.

Halo Reach Daily and Weekly Challenges Guide - 3/28/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Gunslinger - Kill 75 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2250cR
  • About five, or so, games of any regular playlist or two to three games of Grifball and this challenge should be completed.  Objective game should also help in getting kills because you can sit back from the objective and just kill like it was a Slayer game.  In the end, just pick a playlist you enjoy and grind out the seventy-five kills.
Blast Radius - Kill 40 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with grenades. - 1000cR
  • In a regular game of Gruntpocalypse, I have been able to hit about twenty to twenty-five kills with grenades.  It is possibly to get all forty in a single game but you will have to pick up a lot of Plasma Grenades and die on purpose a few times to new Frag Grenades.  Personally, I would try for 2X Score Attack on a small map, like Courtyard.
J.H. Death Machine - Kill 40 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with the Grenade Launcher. - 1000cR
  • And if only the grenades from the Grenade Launcher counted for the earlier challenge.  Alas, they do not.  No Gruntpocalypse for this since you only get DMR in that playlist.  Score Attack should work well for this challenge.  Remember that you normally get one bounce in the grenade before it detonates and if you hold the trigger you get and electric shock instead of a lethal explosion.
Survivor - Earn 9 Sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game. - 1000cR
  • In all honesty, pick 2X Score Attack on a small map like Courtyard and you can get all three of these Firefight Challenges done in a single game.  Just remember to die after your first five sprees to get another four.  Without dying, the greatest number of sprees you can get is stuck at six.

The Weekly Challenge:
Dedication/Time - Complete 24 Challenges this week. - 18000cR
  • This Weekly Challenge is, in fact, challenging because there are only twenty-eight challenges in a week.  You can miss a single days worth of challenges and still get this one, but beyond that, it will not happen.  If you do every challenge, every day, this one will pop sometime next Saturday.  Keep at it and good luck till then.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/27/11

Please subscribe above and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Blastin' and Relaxin' - Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 1350cR
  • Between all the other challenges today, do not worry about this.  The total of all your kills should pass well over a hundred and eighty.
The Little Guys - Kill 75 Grunts in Campaign today on Normal or harder. - 1000cR
  • Set the game on Normal, just to make it easier for yourself, and load up whatever map you want, short of The Long Night of Solace.  Every other map has loads of grunts.  Winter Contingency and ONI: Sword Base are the easiest but, come on!  We play those a lot, load up one of the later missions for a change and switch stuff up.
Weapon Swap - Earn 10 sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game on Heroic or harder. - 1000cR
  • If you want to go for this in Score Attack, remember that once you hit fifty kills to die on purpose.  After fifty, the next spree medal is at a hundred kills.  Even if you have a Sniper or Shotgun, you can really only push that to nine sprees.
Killing Spree - Earn a Killing Spree in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • A single killing spree is very easy to accomplish.  You will need to get five kills without dying.  This is easily accomplished in any playlist, though I would stay away from SWAT, since it is so easy to die, and

It is the last day to complete Tip of the Spear on LASO difficulty for the Weekly Challenge.  See how to do it here!

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/26/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Shootin' and Lootin' - Kill 150 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 1125cR
  • While finishing "Short, Controlled Bursts" this will pop.  If you are not going for the "Short, Controlled Bursts" challenge than either play a lot of Grifball or one or two game of Score Attack.
Explosive Ordnance Distribution - Earn 7 kills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1400cR
  • Rockets, Grenade Launcher, Concussion Rifle, Fuel Rod Gun, and the Plasma Launcher are all considered Explosive Ordnance.  One of the best places to find all these is in Invasion.  Invasion Slayer, particularly, since the reinforcement points will drop lots of Rockets.
Short, Controlled Bursts - Kill 200 enemies with automatic weapons in the Campaign today. - 1500cR
  • Just simply running through the first two missions of the game trying to only use Automatic Weapons should finish off this achievement.  And the Automatic Weapons you can use are as follows, Automatic Rifle, Needler, Spike, Plasma Repeater, and the Plasma Rifle.   There is a strong likelihood that you will get this while working on the Iron Will Challenge if you die once or twice.
Iron Will - Complete a Campaign mission alone on Heroic or harder with the Iron Skull on. - 2500cR
  • If you have yet to do the Weekly Challenge of complete Tip of the Spear on LASO difficulty, doing it today will get you both challenges.

See the Tip of the Spear LASO Weekly Challenge here.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/25/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Light Fare - Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 1000cR
  • On average, a hundred kills should take about seven or eight games.  You can jump into a mode like Grifball and get it done much faster, however.
I'm Rubber, You're Glue - Earn 2 sticky grenade Kills in a multiplayer Matchmaking Game. - 1100cR
  • Two sticky grenade kills is a simple task if you try for it in Multi Team.  It can be had in other playlists as well but you need to be aware of the sticky grenade spawns.  Now, remember that the challenge says "sticky grenade Kills" and not just kills with a sticky grenade.  You actually have to stick your opponent.  Hope they do not have armor lock.
Make a Wish... - Earn a Running Riot in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2500cR
  • Running Riots are hard to come by.  That is fifteen kills in a row without dying.  Living dead is truly your best chance though it is possible in Big Team Slayer as well.  It might be easier to just boost the challenge with a group.
Participation Counts - Complete 4 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1200cR
  • Completing four games in multiplayer matchmaking is simple and will happen while you are going for the other challenges today.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/24/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Covenant-cide - Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1100cR
  • One game of Score Attack will complete this challenge, but you will be playing at least two no matter what since you will need two-hundred headshots.
Survivor - Earn 7 sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game. - 1000cR
  • This is doable in a single game if you pick Sniper Attack.  You can get seven sprees once you hit forty kills.  Four killing sprees and three weapon sprees.  If the weapon sprees do not count, you will need to die after fifty kills and gain another three sprees.
One Game, One Spawn - Complete a Firefight Matchmaking game without dying. - 2000cR
  • Any gametypes (excluding Generator Defense or Crashsite) on Beachhead and Glacier work best for this challenge.  Both maps have some Jet-pack accessible hiding spots were you can play the entire match unmolested.
Hyper Lethal Vector - Kill 200 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • Gruntpocalypse and Sniper Attack are the easiest gametypes for headshots.  It is possible to achieve a hundred per game, but unlikely.  This will probably take two to three games to achieve but every challenge is Firefight today, so it will be a breeze.

See the Tip of the Spear LASO Weekly Challenge here.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/23/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
More Than a Handful - Kill 125 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2500cR
  • While going for the "Single Wield" challenge, you will achieve this challenge, hopefully.  If not, load up whatever playlist you enjoy to finish off the kills.
A Simple Spree - Earn any spree in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • Load up Score Attack and simply play through a single game of Crashsite.  Get at least ten kills and then you will have your Spree.  Since the game is Crashsite, a single death or destruction of the generator will end the game.
Clip It. Share It. - Make a clip from your Local files and upload it to your File Share. - 1250cR
  • You do not need to actually make a clip, but simply upload one you already have to your File Share.
Single Wield - Earn 100 kills with small-arm weapons in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • This is the hardest challenge of the day.  Typically, the Needler, the Plasma Pistol, and the Magnum Pistol are considered to be small arms.  The likely hood of getting a lot of kills with the Plasma Pistol is very low, so we will just look at games and playlists that will allow you to get kills with the Needler and Magnum Pistol.  Living Dead, SWAT Magnums, and Elite Slayer all allow you to spawn with these weapons.
  • Personally, I think SWAT Magnums is the best option but people generally do not vote for it.  And Living Dead, half the time you are infected and you are getting kills with the shotgun.  Elite Slayer only comes up only in Multi Team.  Pick your poison.  This challenge will take a while.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/22/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Shootin' and Lootin' - Kill 250 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 1875cR
  • This should eventually pop while you are playing the many Firefight Matches for today.  Campaign should get you a nice bunch of kills as well.
That Pink Mist - Kill 200 enemies with a Supercombine from the Needler or the Needle Rifle in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • Firefight Arcade is the best playlist for this.  The enemies in Score Attack are simply too weak and you cannot get unlimited ammo for weapons in Firefight Limited.  Pick Sniper Attack and pick up a Needler or Needle Rifle on the ground.  Then you should be all set.  This will take about three or four games.
Points Pyramid - Score 40,000 points on any Campaign mission. - 1750cR
  • New Alexandria is still my favorite level for getting quick and easy points.  Simply fly around and shoot every Banshee and Phantom that you can.  Alternately, if you have yet to do the Weekly Challenge of completing Tip of the Spear on LASO difficulty, that run will also get you well over 40,000 points.  This is due to all the Skull bonuses.  However, be cautious of time and make sure you do not take too long and lose the Time bonus.
T-Hug It Out - Kill 6 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1200cR
  • Multi Team, Grifball, or Living Dead will all get this challenge done.  This is the easiest one today.

See the Tip of the Spear LASO Weekly Challenge here.

Halo Reach: LASO Guide - Part 4: Tip of the Spear - II

Please follow the blog and/or follow me on Twitter!

Diving straight back into it -

And here we will use another trick that is credited to the Mythic Guide at Halo.bungie.org.  Use the Checkpoints we will attempt to have both Wraiths kill themselves.  You will continually drive back and forth between the two points cause them to load constantly.  With any luck, both Wraiths will drive over the cliffside.  See the video for further info.

Halo Reach: LASO Guide - Part 4: Tip of the Spear I

Please follow the blog and/or follow me on Twitter!

Yes, it has been two weeks.  Of course, that means it is time for another LASO Weekly Challenge.  Following the order of the Halo Reach story, this week the mission is Tip of the Spear.  Bungie has done you a huge favor and is still not requiring the "Blind" Skull to be on.  This is a LASO guide, however, and, therefore, has been done with the "Blind" Skull on.  If you need to review LASO difficulty, look here and here.

And this will not be the five-minute cakewalk that Nightfall was.  Expect to spend a good hour or two pulling off this run because you will die a few times.  But, like Nightfall, this mission is very doable solo.  Even though this elevates the mission to SLASO difficulty, I believe it is preferable to having two players.  Remember, in Reach, the enemies scale up for multiple players, therefore making the mission harder.  The only advantage of having teammates is that you just go back to the last checkpoint when you die.

Halo Reach Daily and Weekly Challenges Guide - 3/21/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Fire When Ready - Kill 50 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • After all the time you spent in Multiplayer, hope back in a rack up fifty kills as fast as you can.  Multi Team, Big Team Battle, and Grifball all tend to bring in kills quite fast.
A Friend in Need - Earn 10 assists in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • No Score Attack for this challenge because you need teammates.  You can do either Firefight Arcade or Limited, though I would stick to Arcade so you can at least attempt some vehicle kills.  Communicate with your teammates and let them know when targets are available.
Leadership Element - Kill 45 enemy leaders in the Campaign today. - 1100cR
  • The Long Night of Solace is still my favorite level for Elite (a.k.a. Enemy Leader) kills.  Start at Rally Point Bravo on Heroic difficulty and restart checkpoints if necessary for the forty-five kills.
Flat Tire - Kill 10 enemy vehicles in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1125cR
  • I have yet to find a map that works better than Holdout for this challenge.  Try for Sniper Attack or Sniper Fight on the map.  At most, you can get four Banshees per set, but probably less.  Once you get your ten assists, head back to Score Attack so you can grind out this challenge.

The Weekly Challenge:
Tip Of The Spear: LASO - Complete Tip of the Spear, Legendary, All Skulls On (LASO) - 13000cR

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/20/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Covenant-cide - Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1100cR
  • This should only take one game of Firefight, no matter the playlist, as long as you finish the match.  End early and you will not hit this number.  Gruntpocalypse is still the easiest option for this but you can fall a couple kills short of a hundred and twenty.  Pick a large map so the Grunts do not get close enough to kill themselves.
A Solid Outing - Earn at least 15 kills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1500cR
  • Stick to Multi Team, Grifball, or Big Team Battle.  Obviously, in Grifball you have the highest chance of hitting fifteen kills.  If you simply find Grifball unbearable, try out Multi Team or Big Team Battle.  Stay away from the large crowds and do your damage from a distance.
A Simple Spree - Earn any spree in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • You will get this during your single game of Firefight for the "Covenant-cide" challenge.  Do not worry about working for it.  Just get ten kills in a row and the challenge will be done.
Close Talking - Earn 100 kills with close quarters combat in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • Grifball is really your best option for this challenge because, virtually, all the kills are close quarters combat.  Any Sword, Hammer, Shotgun, Melee, or Assassination kill is close quarters combat.  On a small map, Multi Team should also do well for many melee kills.

Last day for the Weekly Challenge.  See it here.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/19/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
One Spartan Army - Kill 150 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1125cR
  • Two games of Score Attack.  I say two games because you will need to play two games for the forty grenade kills, regardless.  So even if you go into Firefight Arcade and iron out this challenge, you still need to play one more game for the grenade challenge.  You will not be able to get forty grenade kills in a single game.
Now I Have A Machine Gun - Earn 30 kill with automatic weapon in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1250cR
  • Multi Team is a great playlist for automatic weapons kills.  Remember, you can use the AR, Needler, Plasma Rifle, Plasma Repeater, and the Brute Spiker.  It still have yet to figure out why Turrets do not count, but who knows.
Blast Radius - Kill 40 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with grenades. - 1000cR
  • Two games in Score Attack and this challenge should be complete.  As usual, pick a small map and try to hit the Covies as they spawn.
Un, Deux, Trois - Win 3 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1450cR
  • Compared to the fifty wins that you need this week, this is a breeze.  It is also a friendly reminder by Bungie that you should be well on your way to fifty wins now.  Get to it if not.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/18/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Light Fare - Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 1000cR
  • This might be the most time consuming challenge today.  After finishing the other three challenges of the day, I would stick around in multiplayer Matchmaking and continue to rack up wins for the Weekly Challenge.
T-Hug It Out - Kill 7 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1400cR
  • Grifball will get you this in one game.  Enough said.
Light Fuse, Run Away - Kill 4 enemies with grenades in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1000cR
  • Multi Team is good for this especially if you can get Elite Slayer.  Reflections, Countdown, Sword Base, and Zealot have always been favorites, for me, for grenade kills.  Experiences may vary, however.
Double Nickels - Earn 2 Killing Sprees in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1500cR
  • If you can get a single streak in Living Dead, this challenge will be finished.  Remember that it says two "Killing" Sprees.  This rules out Weapon Sprees.  So unless you get two killing Sprees or get up to a Killing Frenzy, aim for Living Dead since you will get a Killing Spree and a Zombie Killing Spree.
  • As a further not, Zombie Killing Sprees are apparently not counting.  Still stick to Living Dead however.  Sprees are easy to come by in that playlist.

See the Weekly Challenge here.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/17/11

Please follow the blog and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Blastin' and Relaxin' - Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 1350cR
  • It is all Firefight today.  Do not forget about the Multiplayer wins for the Weekly, though.  This should pop in your second game of Firefight.  Do not even worry about it.
Hyper Lethal Vector - Kill 100 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • Gruntpocalypse is probably the best option for this.  Lots of easy headshots and the only enemies you really have to worry about are the Grunts with Fuel Rod Guns.  Other than that, just aim for the head and wait for the cheers.
Killagruntjaro - Earn 10 multikills in a Firefight Matchmaking game. - 1100cR
  • In a single game of Firefight, you should pass well over ten multikills.  If not, pick a different weapon.  Whether using the DMR or grenades, if you are not getting multikills, then you are doing something wrong.
Blast Radius - Kill 40 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with grenades. - 1000cR
  • Of all the challenges today, this one is the hardest and that is not saying much.  Stick to Gruntpocalypse but remember that Grunts like to dodge.  Pick space that are not wide open and that provide them a large amount of space to evade your grenades.  As well, try to catch the Grunts as they spawn.  They take a second or two to start evading.

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Light Fare - Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 1000cR
  • The least of your worries today, a hundred kills will come before you know it.
Just Hold On... - Complete 10 Rounds in Firefight Matchmaking without dying. - 1750cR
  • Stick to Firefight Arcade for this.  Having three other teammates lessens the chances that you will die.  Do not be a hero but stay back.  Sniper Fight would be preferable for this challenge.  Glacier and Beachhead both have spot that you can reach with the Jet-Pack that will keep you out of harm's way.  Remember, if you die in the first round, none of the subsequent rounds will count.
L.D. Winter - Complete Winter [Contingency], without dying, on Legendary with Mythic, Thunderstorm, Tilt, and Tough Luck on. - 5000cR
  • Follow my LASO guide on how to run through this level.  If you die, do not worry.  You can do the same trick as yesterday, with saving and quitting at the last checkpoint and re-loading the level.  The Elites at the end will be a lot of trouble, but if you take the sword Elite out first, you should not have much of a problem.
Streaky Shooter - Earn 10 sprees in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2500cR
  • Living Dead is your best option for this.  Stick to a small space and use a shotgun.  You should get three sprees every five kills; a Killing Spree, a Zombie Killing Spree, and a Shotgun Spree.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/15/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Blastin' and Relaxin' - Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 1350cR
  • Through playing Firefight, Campaign, and Multiplayer for the other challenges, this will get done.
A Friend in Need - Earn 10 assists in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • Sniper Fight can get you this challenge as long as you are careful not to kill your targets.  As usual, communicate with your team and let them know that an easy kill is available.
L.D. Spear - Complete Tip of the Spear, without dying, on Legendary with Mythic, Thunderstorm, Tilt, and Tough Luck on. - 5000cR
  • This is nowhere near as hard as it sounds.  Play through the level, but do not worry about dying.  In fact, die all you want.  Once you get to the last check point, about the time when you have to hit the button in the spire, save and exit.  Reload the game from you save point and complete the mission without dying.  Voila, that challenge should pop.
Un, Deux, Trois - Win 3 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1450cR
  • You should get this while completing your daily quota for the Weekly Challenge of fifty wins in Multiplayer Matchmaking.

Halo Reach: Defiant Map Pack Review

Please follow the blog and/or follow me on Twitter for Halo news and guides.

Tomorrow, the Defiant Map Pack for Halo Reach will hit Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points.  One of the biggest qualms for gamers when buying brand new content is not knowing whether the content is worth the price.  Well, we have managed to acquire the map pack a few days before the release (legally, of course!) and have some good news for you, the Defiant Map Pack is worth the cost.

Featuring three brand new maps, Condemned, Highlands, and Unearthed, the Defiant Map Pack is the first real attempt by 343 Industries to create playable Halo content.  In conjunction with Certain Affinity, 343 has brought forth content that is not only beautifully created and steeped in Halo lore but also a complete blast to play.

Halo Reach Daily and Weekly Challenges Guide - 3/14/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on Twitter!

The Challenges:
Covenant-cide - Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1100cR
  • One game of Score Attack and this challenge will be complete.  Get this one out of the way first.
Gunslinger - Kill 75 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2250cR
  • Another challenge that you do not need to worry about once you look at "The Love of the Game" challenge.  This will happen while going for the other challenges.
The Love of the Game - Complete 17 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1850cR
  • Seventeen games.  This does seem a tad unfair since Bungie gave us a similar challenge only two days ago but, I guess, these are supposed to be "challenging."  Living Dead, Multi Team, and SWAT all tend to have short and fun games.  Play in short segments, three or four games here or there.  Playing all seventeen at once, while not make you happy.  Just trust me.
...Got a Triple Double - Earn 3 Double Kills in the same match in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • One game of Grifball will net this achievement, but you do not even need to play that.  Living Dead, Multi Team, Team Objective; all of those playlists will probably get you this challenge within a game or two.

The Weekly Challenge:
Clear Eyes, Full Hearts - Win 50 games in multiplayer Matchmaking this week. - 7777cR
  • No LASO challenge this week.  Instead, you need to win fifty multiplayer games.  I think I would rather take the LASO challenge.  Either way, aim for a certain number per day.  If you aim for seven wins a day, you will hit forty-nine by the end of the week.  Do not stop if you are on a roll, however.  Keep playing till you lose.  And if you are losing, take a break and come back later.  Continuing to play while you are losing will just aggravate you further.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/13/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
One Spartan Army - Kill 150 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1125cR
  • We have an easy set of four today challenges today, comparatively to the "Love of the Game" challenge from yesterday.  A hundred and fifty enemies in Firefight is not a big deal at all.  You can finish this in two games of Score Attack or possibly in a single game of Firefight Arcade.  The later simply depends on your teammates and what gametype is chosen for which map.  If you can get Rocket Fight on Corvette, you have a chance to do it in one game.  Yet, it might be faster to simply do Score Attack.
Short, Controlled Bursts - Kill 100 enemies with automatic weapons in the Campaign today. - 100cR
  • The first level, Winter Contingency, on Heroic has just enough enemies for this as long as you use the Needler and Plasma Repeater as well as the Automatic Rifle.  Generally, always keep the AR in your possession and switch off the Repeater and Needler depending on available ammunition.
A Simple Spree - Earn any spree in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • This is really simply.  Get ten kills in a row in Firefight without dying.  Probably one of the easiest challenges I have ever seen.
Kill 100 enemies with precision weapons in the Campaign today. - 1000cR
  • Nightfall, Tip of the Spear, The Package, and The Pillar of Autumn are the missions that provide the most opportunities to kill with Precision weapons.  The two best, to me, are Nightfall and Tip of the Spear.  They are shorter and, one follows the other.  This means that you can just keep playing through and finish off the challenge instead of having to load another map.

Last day for the Weekly Challenge.  See how to do it here.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/12/11

Please follow the blog and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Covenant-cide - Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1100cR
  • This will take one game of Firefight Arcade.  Why Firefight Arcade?  Look at the "That Pink Mist Challenge."
No 'I' in Team - Earn 6 Assists in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1500cR
  • Try Multi Team for this challenge.  Remember that you need 6 in a single game.  Stay near teammates and actively try to hurt but not kill your targets.  Use your mic as well and talk to your teammates.  Some people are actually respectful and leave that kill to you.  You have to tell them to take it, sometimes.
That Pink Mist - kill 100 enemies with the Supercombine from the Needler of Needle Rifle in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1250cR
  • This is the reason we will be playing Firefight Arcade.  If you try Score Attack, a majority of the enemies are simply too weak.  They die before the Supercombine occurs.  Instead, go to Firefight Arcade and aim for Sniper Fight or Rocket Fight.  Pick up a Needler off the ground (I prefer it over the Needle Rifle so you do not accidentally headshot your target) and do not let go of the trigger.  Will probably take you two games.
The Love of the Game - Complete 20 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2000cR
  • Living Dead is a good idea for this challenge.  Generally, the games are short and fast moving.  Finding a match is not too hard.  Play short segments of games, no more than seven at a time.  Just try to play what you enjoy, in the end.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/11/11

Please follow the blog and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Fire When Ready - Kill 50 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • Fifty kills in multiplayer can be had in a single game of Grifball.  With the "Make a Wish..." challenge today, this easy fifty kill challenge will be no trouble at all.  It will happen while working on everything else.
A Great Friend - Earn 15 assists today in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1125cR
  • Not hard at all, but slightly time consuming.  And, it might just be me, but it seems as if Assists are, generally, easier to come by now, than when the game first came out.  Maybe it is just me, but it is possible to score seven or eight assists a game if you are trying for them.  Just pick a gametype you enjoy.  Stay near your teammates and call out targets.  Take down their shields and maybe put another shot into the enemy.  Then, let your teammate finish the kill and you have an assist.
Make a Wish... - Earn a Running Riot in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2500cR
  • What a pain.  In my thirteen-hundred plus games of multiplayer Matchmaking, I have eight "Running Riots."  Grifball and Living Dead are your best options.  For Living Dead, pick a map like Pinnacle and hope you are a survivor, but be careful with your shots.  You have a finite number of bullets.  Honestly, the best way to get this is probably to boost it in a game of Grifball.  It sucks that I have to recommend that, but it is simply the easiest way to get the challenge done.  Here is a good place to look for fellow boosters.
Un, Deux, Trois - Win 3 games in multiplayer matchmaking. - 1450cR
  • This will hopefully happen while working on the fifteen assists and the "Running Riot" challenge.  If you are still short some, than simply pick a playlist that you like and get to it.  Work with friends, if you can, to ensure a winning team.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/10/11

Please follow the blog and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
Shootin' and Lootin' - Kill 250 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 1875cR
  • The daily "Get as many kills as you can" challenge is set to two-hundred and fifty today.  One of the higher amounts that it has been recently but, still, no sweat.  Between all the kills you will get playing Firefight today, this challenge will pop pretty fast.
Hyper Lethal Vector - Kill 150 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1125cR
  • You should be able to pull this out during two or three games.  Stick to 2X Score Attack but be careful with your shots.  You should be able to get plenty of headshots in between the Grunts, Brutes, Skirmishers, and Elites.
Demon - Kill 50 Elites in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • Two games of 2X Score Attack will net this challenge.  You might need to play a third, but it will be very close.  Remember that while all the Elites normally come at the end, play 2X Score Attack on Beachhead and you may get a Drop Pod earlier with 4 Ultra Elites.
...And Recreation - Kill 150 enemies on Beachhead on Heroic in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1125cR
  • This will be your easiest challenge today.  It will take two matches however, but the challenge will pop very early on in the second match.

See the Weekly Challenge here.

Extended Edition of the Lord of The Rings Trilogy to Blu-Ray

The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (Extended Edition + Digital Copy) [Blu-ray]

Well, I have been waiting this for a long time.  The regular edition of the LoTR Trilogy has been on Blu-Ray for a while, but with all that space on a Blu-Ray disc, it seemed like a complete waste.  The extended Editions, being much better versions of the films, have arrived for pre-order on Amazon.  They end up adding a total of probably more than an hour to the trilogy and really fill in some gaps.  I will be waiting to see if there any good extras accompanying the discs.  No date has been set for their release yet, but I would assume mid-fall of 2011.

Star Wars: The Complete Saga (Episodes I-VI) [Blu-ray]

And for all the Star Wars fans, it was announced in that all the Star Wars films would be making their way to Blu-Ray.  You can get the Complete Saga, the Original Trilogy, or the Prequel Trilogy.  They will be hitting stores on September 27th, 2011 and Amazon.com has them up for pre-order at a drastically reduced price.  This promises to be a fantastic collection which will hold many of the Original Trilogy deleted scenes that Lucas has kept under wraps.  Here is one that they already released:

Well, I know I am excited.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/9/11

Please follow the blog and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
More than a Handful - Kill 125 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2500cR
  • You will get at least forty kills doing the "Single Wield" challenge and that leaves another eighty-five for you to gain.  You can go the Grifball route or just stick to regular Slayer.  I tend to stray away from Big Team Battle even though a few people like it to get a lot of kills.  First of all, it takes forever.  Games are way too long.  Secondly, there is always one player who takes the best vehicle.  If you get it and he does not, he just betrays you and destroys the vehicle.  It just ends up wasting time.  It simply is not worth the time.
Take a Dip - Kill 150 enemies on Waterfront in Firefight Matchmaking.- 1125cR
  • Two matches of Score Attack on Waterfront and this will be done.  Firefight Arcade might be a good option as well, but you have a much smaller chance of the map popping up.
Return of the Mack - Kill 50 Elites in Campaign today on Normal or Harder. - 1700cR
  • Best level for this challenge, to me, has always been the Long Night of Solace.  Start it up at Rally Point Bravo.  Normal has a far number of Elites but there seems to be even more if you play the level on Heroic.  You will probably need to reload the level to finish off the challenge.
Single Wield - Earn 40 kills with small arms weapons in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1300cR
  • Small arms weapons mean the Magnum, Plasma Pistol, Needler, and I believe the Plasma Rifle.  Technically the Target Locator is single wield as well, but you will never, ever see that in Multiplayer.  Though it would be awesome.  SWAT Magnums is your best bet here.  Pick small maps and this should take three to four games.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/18/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
One Spartan Army - Kill 400 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2000cR
  • Four games of Firefight Arcade of Score Attack will take care or this challenge.  For Firefight Arcade, this might only take three games.  Be selfish with the kills and aim for gametypes with power weapons.
Watersports - Kill 100 enemies on Waterfront on Heroic in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • Whether on Score Attack or Firefight Arcade, get this map once and you should finish off this challenge.  A hundred kills is easy pickings for anyone.
Iron Will - Complete a Campaign mission along on Heroic or harder with the Iron Skull on. - 2500cR
  • If you have not done the Weekly Challenge yet, you can do it today and get this challenge done as well.  Otherwise you have to play through a level on at least Heroic with the Iron Skull on.  You can, perhaps, run through Nightfall on Heroic using the LASO guide...
Put Your Quarter Up - Complete 15 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1750cR
  • Another grinding challenge.  SWAT and Living Dead tend to be the fastest games.  Pick small maps and that should help move the games along.  Take breaks while playing since fifteen games can be a handful.

Halo Reach: LASO Guide - Part 3: Nightfall

Please follow the blog and/or follow me on Twitter!

Time to get the Weekly Challenge done, eh?  This mission is so incredibly easy that it belies logic.  And it only takes five to six minutes if everything goes right.  Check the video if you do not believe me (Also on Youtube).  There is one skill you need to perfect for this mission, however.  I'm talking about the "Beat Down."  Now, in Halo 3, a "Beat Down" was whenever you melee'd and opponent and kill them.  In Reach, that would be "Pummeled."

Now in Reach, a "Beat Down" is a melee from behind that kills an enemy without entering into an assassination animation.  What you need to do is quickly hit the melee button while behind an enemy but do not hold it at all.  This will perform a "Beat Down" instead of an assassination.  If you can perform a "Beat Down" on an unsuspecting enemy, you will not alert any nearby enemies unless they directly see you.  This is very useful for this level.
Need to review LASO and what it means?  Look here and here.

Halo Reach Daily and Weekly Challenges Guide - 3/7/11

Please follow the blog and/or follow me on Twitter!

The Challenges:
Gunslinger – Kill 75 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. – 2250cR
  • You can play Grifball and have it done in two to three games or you can play as you normally would.  Either way it should not take to long.
A Satisfied Thirst – Kill 250 Grunts in Firefight Matchmaking. – 1875cR
  • Two to three games of Gruntpocalypse and this will be finished.  Do not try to hard.
There Are Many Like… - Kill 100 enemies with precision weapons in the Campaign today. – 1000cR
  • Can be done on Nightfall or Tip of the Spear.  Do not go for this while doing the LASO run.  You will not get anywhere.  Replay levels if you have to.
Linked Up with Bungie.net – Link your gamertag with Bungie.net and play a game in Halo: Reach matchmaking. – 3000cR
  • Create a profile on bungie.net.  While setting up your profile, add your gamertag and then simply play a game in Reach Matchmaking.  These are really easy points.

The Weekly Challenge:
Nightfall: LASO – Complete Nightfall, Legendary, All Skulls On (LASO). – 12000cR

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/6/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

Update: For the moment the Bungie Servers seem to be down.  Do not be alarmed.  You rank has not been reset and you have not been banned.  I'll update when they are back up.

Servers are back up!

The Challenges:
Shootin' and Lootin' - Kill 400 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 2000cR
  • Through the challenge "Short, Controlled Bursts" and the Firefight and multiplayer matches you will have to play, this challenge will be done in short order.
Not as Clumsy or Random... - Earn 5 kills with precision weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1000cR
  • Any playlist with DMR start games will be perfect for this challenge.  Should take one game, but if you do not want to chance it, head to Team SWAT or Snipers.
Flat Tire - Kill 10 enemy vehicles in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1125cR
  • And we finally see the return of this aggravating challenge.  As the masses have discovered through much annoyance, the best map for this challenge in Holdout and the best game type is Sniper Attack.  If you make the match tick all the way down, you can get four Banshees to spawn.  Your chances of getting exactly that are small, but the map definitely works.
  • If you run out of choices, Rocket Attack is always a good option on maps like Beachhead.  There is a chance that a Wraith or Ghost might be dropped on the final wave.  But make sure you actually destroy the vehicle.  If you just kill the driver and not destroy the vehicle, it will not count towards the challenge.
Short, Controlled Bursts - Kill 100 enemies with automatic weapons in the Campaign today. - 1000cR
  • Load up Winter Contingency on Normal.  Exclusively use the AR and the Needler and you should be able to hit a hundred plus kills.

Last day to hit the 1500 kills in multiplayer Matchmaking.  See the Weekly Challenge here.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/5/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter!

The Challenges:
One Spartan Army - Kill 250 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1875cR
  • Two games of 2X Score Attack will finish off this challenge.  However, it might take three.  It all depends on how many Covies end up killing themselves with poorly placed or ill-timed grenades.  You can also hit up Firefight Arcade, but you would be hard pressed to break a hundred and fifty kills in a single game.
This is My Rifle... - Earn 20 kills with precision weapons in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • Head over to Team Slayer, Objective, SWAT, or Snipers for this challenge.  The kills do not need to be in a single game which makes this challenge a lot easier.  Precision weapons include the DMR, Needle Rifle, Sniper, and Covenant Beam Rifle.
Freelancing - Earn at least 23 kills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2300cR
  • You can get this challenge while playing Grifball.  It is definitely possible in other playlists, but twenty-three kills is pushing the envelope a little.  Try for it while meeting your daily quota of kills for the weekly.
Un, Deux, Trois - Win 3 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1450cR
  • Between the Weekly Challenge and the two other multiplayer Matchmaking challenges, this one will happen.  Three wins is easy so do not worry about it at all.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/4/11

Please follow the blog and/or follow me on BreadCornerTwitter!

The Challenges:
Light Fare - Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 1000cR
  • A simple challenge that should give you no trouble as you grind out you daily quota of kills for the Weekly Challenge.
Helping Hand - Earn 10 assists today in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • Multi Team is still the best for these challenges.  You just have to remember to not finish and to engage players in wide open, frequented areas.  And ten is not at all a hard number to hit.  You can even get three or four assists per game while playing Grifball.
Twin Trips - Earn 2 Triple Kills in the same match in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2000cR
  • You can get this in any playlist, but your safest bet is Grifball.  I was able to get this challenge and "The Dream Shake" done in a single game of Multi Team
The Dream Shake - Earn 4 Double Kills in the same match in Multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2000cR
  • Just like "Twin Trips," you should get this in one game of Grifball.  Enough said.

See the Weekly Challenge here.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/3/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on BreadCornerTwitter!

The Challenges:
Covenant-cide - Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1100cR
  • All the challenges today look somewhat imposing since it is a lot of kills.  However, all the challenges today can be done in a single match.  Play 2X Score Attack on Corvette.  A hundred and twenty kills maybe cutting it close by the end but it is doable.
Weapon Swap - Earn 10 sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game on Heroic or harder. - 1000cR
  • You will be using the Shotgun, which will give you an extra 3 sprees on top of your regular ones.  But if you do not die and get a hundred plus kills, you will only be at nine sprees.  You can simply die once at about fifty kills and definitely get the challenge done.
A Heroic Breach - Kill 100 enemies on Corvette on Heroic in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • The only annoying part will be getting this map in matchmaking.  You should get a hundred plus kills on this map easily.  Just finish before time runs out.
The T.G. Opposition - Kill 70 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with the Shotgun. - 1250cR
  • For the first wave of grunts, you will have to go out and get them with the Shotgun.  Watch out for the Fuel Rods however.  After that, the enemies move fast enough that you can simply camp in the initial spawn and you should be fine.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/2/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on BreadCornerTwitter!

The Challenges:
Blastin' and Relaxin' - Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 1350cR
  • Another freebie for today.  This challenge will be completed while finishing all the other ones for today.
A Friend in Need - Earn 10 assists in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • No Score Attack for this challenge because you need teammates.  Firefight Arcade and a gametype like Sniper Attack should do fine.  I would advise against picking Rocket Attack because, simply, it is way too easy to kill the Covies.  This makes it less likely for you to get assists.  Remember to stay near teammates so they can finish your opponents off.
Short, Controlled Bursts - Kill 100 enemies with automatic weapons in Campaign today. - 1000cR
  • Pick whatever mission you enjoy that has an AR start, like Winter Contingency, ONI: Sword Base, Long Night of Solace, The Package, or The Pillar of Autumn.  I would suggest setting the difficulty to Normal.  Kills with the AR, Needler, Spiker, Plasma Rifle, and Plasma Repeater all count towards the challenge.
Headshot Honcho - Kill 11 enemies with headshots in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1320cR
  • One game of Team SWAT or Snipers and this challenge will be finished.  Really, another easy day for challenges.  Remember to meet your self-set quota for multiplayer kills for the Weekly Challenge.
