Review: Gears of War: Judgment (Xbox 360)

So, I am super late with this one but I will claim distraction due to Game of Thrones Season Three starting up and Bioshock Infinite coming out only a week after Judgment. Of course, I played on the Xbox 360 as this is a console exclusive. Regardless, here is the review for Gears of War: Judgment.

The cover for Gears of War: Judgment.

Story:

Unlike my last review on the new Tomb Raider, I have been playing Gears of War since the original came out and my friend got me to play it just to scare the shit out of me. As the Gears of War saga has moved on, it became less of a fright and more of a straight cover-based shooter. The story of Marcus Fenix ended with Gears of War 3. This new game, titled Gears of War: Judgment, focuses on Daimon Baird and Augustus "Coletrain" Cole before the events of the original Gears of War, right after E-Day. These two are fan favorites and are known for their constantly witty banter as well as inappropriate, but well-timed jokes.

Gears of War: Judgment Cog Tag Locations - Part VII: Aftermath

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments? Post them down below!

Gears of War: Judgment is definitely bucking some trends of previous Gears games, like getting rid of D-pad weapon selection, but some things have not changed. All games have some form of collectibles now and Cog Tags are the ones for this installment. No need to worry about other collectibles, just the Tags of your fellow fallen Cogs. There are forty eight in total but we will do these section by section. Generally, you will see a red Cog Omen symbol near each tag, but not always right next to it. Expect one tag per chapter. Getting ten COG Tags will get you the "Never Forgotten" achievement, twenty-five COG Tags will get you the "Veteran Remembrance" achievement and finding all of them will score you the "Respect for the Fallen" achievement.

Review: Tomb Raider (Xbox 360)

This will be one of the first reviews I have posted on here, but it is something I want to start doing regularly. If you have any suggestions for this, tell me below as well as any games you want me to review in the comments and follow me on Twitter!

Tomb Raider Xbox 360 Cover

So, I am a little late with this one, but I only got the game a week after release and was busy reading as well so that is my excuse. Regardless, I did enjoy playing Uncharted with a female character Tomb Raider since, overall, the gameplay is solid and the story generally sticks together though there are some holes. I will soon post a shorter and, most likely, NSFW video review for the game. For the record, I played the Xbox 360 but the game is also available on the PS3 and PC.

Bungie's Destiny Revealed!

Please subscribe to the blog and/or follow me on twitter!

Earlier today, Bunie Inc, finally released a ViDoc (posted above) detailing the upcoming game, Destiny.  Filled with animated concept art and what looks to be some mid-late Alpha or early Beta footage of the game.  Though no release date was set (I am pretty sure this will be coming out late Fall or Early Winter of 2013, you can already pre-order the game on PS3 and Xbox 360.  Sadly, no news on PC yet.

Halo 4 at E3 2012: Dissecting the Trailer

Please subscribe and/or follow me on twitter!

So, if you were paying attention to E3 today, and more specifically Microsoft's show, you are at least mildly aware of the Halo 4 trailer and news that dropped today. This trailer has brought forth a lot of interesting tidbits and showcased some rather impressive Halo 4 gameplay. Hats off to 343 Industries for presentation, but can they deliver? Let's dissect this sucker, but where to start?

The Plot:
So it seems that the UNSC Infinity is probably going to take a more central role in the game then previously discussed. In the gameplay trailer, the Infinity crashes, descending past the Chief who of course plans to follow.

The UNSC Infinity crashing
Now, before that happens, a large Orb de-cloaks and zooms after the Infinity after emitting what looked like a scanning laser. That same effect is seen in the live action portion of the trailer. Clearly, this Orb has taken control of the Infinity and is causing it to crash. At the end of the trailer, a voice showing only a hexagon like symbol says "I have long dreamt of this day, Reclaimer." Bets are that the Orb is either Mendicant Bias or the Didact.

Mendicant Bias or the Didact?
As well, the game will also cover the eventual rampancy of Cortana. As she states she was "put into service eight years ago. AIs deteriorate after seven." There is also a short shot of her screaming in Rage at someone claiming that she will not allow them to leave the planet. Who she is shouting at, is still unknown.

Halo Reach: Defiant Map Pack Review

Please follow the blog and/or follow me on Twitter for Halo news and guides.

Tomorrow, the Defiant Map Pack for Halo Reach will hit Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points.  One of the biggest qualms for gamers when buying brand new content is not knowing whether the content is worth the price.  Well, we have managed to acquire the map pack a few days before the release (legally, of course!) and have some good news for you, the Defiant Map Pack is worth the cost.

Featuring three brand new maps, Condemned, Highlands, and Unearthed, the Defiant Map Pack is the first real attempt by 343 Industries to create playable Halo content.  In conjunction with Certain Affinity, 343 has brought forth content that is not only beautifully created and steeped in Halo lore but also a complete blast to play.

A Top 10 For All To See - Part II

Damn Straight!
I'm thinking of redecorating this place, you know? Maybe put a nice new wallpaper up, switch the color scheme up some. Generally just make things look more presentable. That will be an ongoing project until NHL 11 and Reach come out. And if you drop by and everything looks like shit, Don't Worry! It's just me.

So last week I posted my top 10 video games of all time. Well, sort of. I cut it off halfway through. (Here, if you missed it.)  Otherwise, it would have been an extremely verbose post that I seriously doubt anyone would have finished. Plus, I had other stuff to write. And also people came over. And by people I mean relatives. Time was at a premium.

Here is the final 5 of the top 10 after the jump.

A Top 10 For All To See

It can bring utmost joy or terrible shame. In one way or another, it has been a part of human civilization since the beginning. It's something that I have been doing for years. And almost every guy does it and is self-conscious about it. Hey, even some girls too. No, I'm not talking about "THAT." I'm talking about gaming, so pull your mind out of the gutter and look at this list of my top ten games.

Now this is a pretty eclectic list.  I enjoy a lot of different genres and playing styles.  First Person Shooters, Role Playing Games, Flight Sims, Racing, Real-Time Strategy, MMORPG, Turn-Based Strategy, Rhythm, Mystery; I have played them all and had fantastic and terrible times in each.  This will also be from multiple consoles and systems.  Note: I don't have a PS3, cause I can't afford one, so there will probably be a lack of games from the PS3. I did have a PS2 however, it was our first DVD player.  Then we broke it.  Got it repaired.  Broke it again.  We were mean to that PS2.

So here is the top 10 after the jump.
