The Challenges:
That's No Moon! - Complete Requiem solo on Legendary difficulty. - 3000 XP
I thought we were doing LASO challenges. They need to make up their damn minds over there so we can get used to playing through these levels on a certain difficulty. Personally, I think this kind of sucks, as we could get more interesting Weekly Campaign Challenges, but alas. Requiem is actually a decently long level and making it harder on yourself is not a great idea. All of this level is just facing your standard Covenant forces so there are no special techniques except to make sure you utilize you armor abilities and just take it slow. Another thing to be mindful of is that you use appropriate weapons at appropriate times. I.e. do not waste a rocket on a single Grunt that you can just go melee. As well, you can die as much as you want, so do not be afraid to fail and restart a section. This isn't LASO. thankfully.

The Monthly Challenge:
To The Victor Go The Spoils - Win 50 matchmaking War Games matches. - 17500 XP
You knew it was going to come back to this challenge, right? Though, a month without it was rather nice, but I really just don't like the idea of Monthly Challenges that much. Just not a lot you can do with them. Regardless, here we go. Eighty games also means that you need to win about two games a day this month. That will put you at sixty as long as you play every single day. In reality, they will probably give challenges each day requiring that many games and kills, so this should be partially done for us.

The Challenges:
Drop Bears! - Assassinate 2 Players in a single match. - 1200 XP
As usual, like every time we get this challenge, you will need to score two assassination in a single game. You can trigger an assassination animation by holding the melee button behind an enemy. The animation needs to mostly complete for it to count. Now, Team Slayer Pro had been the best playlist for me to get assassinations, but that is now gone so we need other playlists. I have had luck in FFA Regicide on maps like Haven or Adrift (more Haven than the other one) which means stick to smaller maps. Dominion might be worthwhile for some, but that maps are much larger so you will likely need to hide in the bases.
Exterminate! Exterminate! - Kill every member of the opposing team at least once in a match. - 1500 XP
This is what we call a poorly described challenge. When this says to kill every member of the opposing team in a match, it fails to mention that this need to be done three times. You can somewhat treat this like an actually Extermination from Reach, but just spread out over an entire game. As well, there is a commendation that tracks this. Now, you do need to kill every member of the opposing team, just not at all once. This probably happens more often than not without you even noticing it. You will want to stick to gametypes with a low number of players per team. This means Team Slayer Pro, Infinity Slayer, or SWAT. Each one of those gametypes has teams of four players maximum. I'm not entirely sure how people joining and leaving the game effect this stat, but most likely you will need to have killed every player who is on the team once the game ends. Will take at least three games to complete.

The Challenges:
Drilled - Get 15 kills with a Precision Loadout Weapon in a single match. - 3000 XP
I wonder if the XP for this challenge will ever go back up. Probably not. Precision Loadout weapons in Halo 4 include the DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle), the BR (Battle Rifle), the Covenant Carbine, and the Light Rifle. These are all the precision weapons that you can add to a customized loadout. Sniper, Binary Cannon, and Covenant Beam Rifle do not fall into this category. Now, some playlists, like SWAT, have you exclusively using these weapons and these are your best bets for completing these challenges. As all these games require sixty kills now, but your average number of kills should jump up a little putting fifteen just in range of a regular game. As well, objective gametypes are good for this challenge as there is no kill limit and you can exclusively use a precision weapons in your loadouts. This does need to be completed in a single game so expect this to take two or three games to accomplish.

As I usually say, it is good to see more general "wins" challenge, since the specific gametypes one are annoying as hell. To get wins you need to follow some pretty simple rules. First off, stay away from any playlist that features more than two teams. The lower the number of teams, the higher your chances of being on the winning one. Secondly, stick to gametypes that you know and are good at. Exploring different game modes can be fun, but it you are going for wins, it is a bad idea. Finally, play with teammates that you know and play well with. Communication and knowing your team is key to scoring wins quickly. It makes life so much easier. Deadeye - Kill 80 Players with a headshot. - 1600 XP
To score a headshot in War Games, you will need a headshot capable weapon. In Halo 4, these include the DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle), the BR (Battle Rifle), the Magnum Pistol, the Sniper Rifle, the Covenant Carbine, the Beam Rifle, the Light Rifle, and the Binary Cannon. Now, usually when we see this challenge, it is asking for twelve or so kills so they have upped the ante a lot today. Complete "Drop Bears" first as you are likely to score some headshots there unless you are actually only trying for assassinations, which would make you a huge detriment to your team. The easiest way to score these headshots will be in a gametype like SWAT where almost all of the kills are headshots. Just play normally while you amass these headshots. It should not take more than seven or eight games.

The Challenges:
Fully Automated - Get 16 kills with an Automatic Loadout Weapon in a single match. - 1600 XP
There are only three Automatic Loadout Weapons in Halo 4 and those are the Assault Rifle, the Strom Rifle, and the Suppressor. You will likely not get as many kills with these weapons as precision weapons without actively trying for them since the effective range of the weapons is so much less. Whichever gun you pick is up to you but this info my help you make a decision. The Suppressor has the widest spread but seems to have the most powerful shot. The Storm Rifle has the smallest spread but the weakest shots. The AR is pretty comfortable with a medium spread and medium damage, therefore making it the most deadly, in my opinion. Large team gametypes or objective gametypes on smaller maps like Adrift or Haven will serve you best for getting these kills. Sixteen can actually be challenging, so go for the larger objective gametypes and only use these weapons.

The Challenges:
Dawn Madness - Complete Dawn on Legendary difficulty with the Mythic, Tilt, Tough Luck and Thunderstorm skulls. - 5500 XP
Thought they had us pretty much only doing random LASO challenges now. Guess not. This is a welcome change however, since LASO in this game is a complete pain unless you do a full four player co-op playthrough. Now, Dawn is the first level of the campaign and also the easiest. The skulls we need to have on are Mythic (Double enemy health), Tilt (Weaknesses are weaker and strengths are stronger), Tough Luck (Enemies dodge a lot), and Thunderstorm (All enemies are upgraded to the next level). This will cause the most trouble with Elites as they will be much stronger and much deadlier, though all other Covies can be killed with a simple headshot. You do not have to do this solo so grab a friend and you can breeze through this in no time flat.

It should not take more than five or six games.
Take The Hill! - Win 2 matchmaking King of the Hill matches. - 2000 XP
Well, two wins is not too bad if you have a good team, at least. King of the Hill is a gametype in which you need to hold a position which moves around the map. The first team to reach, I believe, a hundred and fifty seconds wins the game. KoTH in Halo 4 is actually a lot easier since they will tell you where the next hill will be when there are about five seconds left on the old hill. That way, you can make headway on the hill while the other team is trying to squeeze a few seconds out of the old hill. If you have a group of at least three players, you can easily run this playlist for wins. Again it all comes down to communication. The bigger issue here is what playlist you will need to be in. There is no King of the Hill playlist anymore so you will need to head to Team Objective to get some games. This many take up to four games to finish off.

The Challenges:
The Kill-O-Tron - Earn 4 Multikill medals in a single match. - 2400 XP
So, Grifball is still here since it was introduced into matchmaking some time ago. Due to that addition, this challenge is easy as hell and will take absolutely no time to accomplish. First off, a multikill is earned when you score multiple kills within four and a half seconds of each other. With two kills this will be a Double Kill but you can take this up to ten kills for a Killionaire (nine multikills). Now, Grifball has you equipped only with Gravity Hammers and Energy Swords. If you have yet to venture into this playlist, it will take some adjustment from Reach, but not much. You can play up to five rounds in a close game so you have plenty of time to score these multikills. Dominion is another options if Grifball does not agree with you, especially with today's other challenge.

The Challenges:
In The Back - Assassinate 8 Players. - 1600 XP
Assassinations are not too hard to come by but, this time, you will need to bring in eight assassinations overall, however. Now, to score an assassination, you need to go behind an enemy and hold down the melee button. An animation will then trigger that needs to mostly complete for the assassination to count. Now, Regicide, along with Team Snipers, is probably the best spot to score assassination in any sort of Slayer game since Team Slayer Pro was taken away. Generally, however, you will want to stick to objective games since you can then hide and ambush people. Basically, pick your poison for this challenge. Expect it to take four to six games to score these assassinations.

No need to worry about this challenge today, as it will be taken care of by the other campaign challenge, "DAWN SLASO." Nothing to see here. Move along.

The Challenges:
Game Over, Man! - Complete 10 matchmaking War Games matches. - 3500 XP
So, this challenge is a lot easier than it ever was in Halo Reach for one simple reason; you do not actually have to be in the game from start to finish for it to count. Really, you only need to be in there at the end. This means that join-session-in-progress games will count for this challenge as long as you are in there once the game finishes. Work on the "Got Backup" challenge first, since it will have you likely playing more than half the games needed for this challenge, and then move on to whatever games you please to finish off this challenge. Remember, that getting kicked, disconnected, or quitting from games will cause them not to count for this challenge. You just need to complete ten games, so this shouldn't take long.

The Challenges:
Up Close And Personal - Earn 5 CQC Medals in a single match. - 2000 XP
CQC, or close quarters combat, medals in Halo 4 are very limited and only include the Melee, Bulltrue, and Beatdown medals. You would think that Grifball would be a great playlist for this challenge but Energy Sword and Gravity Hammer kills do not yield any CQC medals, which is somewhat idiotic. However, if you get control of the ball, you can easily score some Bulltrue and Melee medals. I was able to earn six CQC medals in a single game (as well as a bunch of kills and multikills) and get this challenge done in no time flat. As you might think, Grifball in Halo 4 will require some transition from Reach, but not much. Timing is about the same, so have fun. You can also try gametypes like Oddball and such to score these medals with some ease. Complete "Raise The Flag" first.

Deft Hand - Earn 15 Combat Skill Medals. - 1500 XP
Combat Skill medals include the Killjoy, Headcase, From the Grave, Reload This, and Showstopper medals. You need fifteen of these overall today and so you will need to be ready to play a lot of games. Use precision weapons (DMR, BR, Light Rifle, Sniper) to score Headcase (headshot on a running target) medals and then use grenades when you are near death for the From the Grave medal. Reload This is pretty much dependent on the other player but people need to reload their weapons. Killyjoys and Showstopper are a bit more rare and harder to get so do not focus on them. You can expect to get about two to four medals a game. Complete "Infected" first, however, as you will probably get some Combat Skill medals while playing it.

Oh, It's On! - Complete any Campaign Mission on Heroic or higher difficulty with the Mythic, Tilt, Storm and Tough Luck skulls. - 4000 XP
Well, another week and another set of Campaign weekly challenges. This week, the focus is on Reclaimer, but not for this challenge. I would definitely not recommend doing this challenge at the same time as Turn It Off!" due to how much more difficult it will make the game with the other challenge requiring a Legendary solo run of Shutdown. For this challenge, you need to turn on the Mythic skull, which doubles all enemy health, the Thunderstorm skull, which upgrades all enemies, and the Tough Luck Skull, which causes all enemies to dodge and go berserk more often. Due to these skulls, I would run through this on Dawn. As well, this way you only have to play it on Heroic instead of Legendary.

The Challenges:
In Your Face - Earn 20 CQC Medals. - 1600 XP
There are three Close Quarters Combat medals in Halo 4 and they are the Melee, Beat Down, and Bulltrue medals. Remember that, for the Beat Down medal, when behind an enemy, just tap melee instead of holding it to perform a Beat Down. To get these, you will typically want to be on a smaller map in an objective oriented game as it will allow you to get as many medals as possible. Oddball is typically good for close quarters combat on the smaller maps, especially if you have the ball or can use the ball-carrier to draw people in close range. As well, standard slayer games will work well too, just not as many medals per game. This challenge should only take five to eight games to complete as twenty CQC medals are easy to get. You will probably get some of these while working on the "The Kingslayer" challenge so some of it is done for you.
The Kingslayer - Earn 10 Regicides. - 1400 XP
I guess I can't bitch too much about Regicide right now, since this challenge is rather easy, and the XP value has jumped up a bit. Regardless, still seeing these too often. Now, Regicides are earned when you kill the King in a Regicide match, whether Team or Free-for-all. Unlike yesterday, you will need twelve Regicides rather than five or so. Whether you play standard Regicide or Team Regicide, slaying the King should be a regular occurrence, though less often in Team Regicide because you have an entire team to contend with. If you find it hard to come by King kills, head to the standard (FFA) Regicide and you can easily rack up the Regicides needed in two or three games (it is not uncommon to get almost ten Regicides a game in Free-for-all).

The Monthly Challenge:
Spartan Takedown - Kill 2500 Players. - 20000 XP
We actually went two months without them resorting to this challenge which is wonderful. Hopefully we won't see this challenge for another few months again. Tired of seeing the same challenges in a row constantly. Now, two-thousand, five-hundred kills in a single month means that you will need to score about seventy-five a day. That is a lot of multiplayer kills, to be honest, and will require a lot of work. You will want to head mostly to objective gametypes as they will allow you to score the most kills. This means gametypes like Grifball, in which you can get thirty to forty kills a game, and gametypes like Dominion. As long as they are not tied down to kill counts, as no objective games are, it will probably work well for our needs. Now, if you can, I would suggest spreading these kills out over the day. Sitting down and trying to score a hundred kills at once can be trying. Now, I would suggest trying to get as many kills as you can as early on as you can. This way, you will have some wiggle room in the later parts of the month if you cannot play for a few days and you may even finish the challenge early. Just remember that this challenge will require a lot of dedication.

The Challenges:
I Predict A Riot - Earn 3 Killing Spree medals in a single match. - 1200 XP
Typically, this challenge asks for four sprees, so it has been toned down a little. Of course, that apparently means we get half the credits. Anyway, a Killing Spree in Halo 4 is earned when you score five kills in a row without dying. First it is a Killing Spree, then a Killing Frenzy, then a Running Riot, Rampage, etc. Now, the likelihood of you getting a Rampage in a game is extremely unlikely so you will need to stack together several smaller sprees. You will want large game like Big Team Infinity Slayer or Dominion. Make use of heavy vehicles, like Scorpion and Wraith Tanks, and also heavy weapons. If you are trying to string together a spree, it is also important to stay at range as your chances of dying are much higher when you are in close. Expect this to take a bunch of games to complete.

The Challenges:
Quick On The Trigger - Earn 5 Combat Skill Medals in a single match. - 1000 XP
Combat skill medals, for those who do not already know of them, include the Killjoy, Headcase, From the Grave, Reload This, and Showstopper Medals. Granted, a lot of these are based off of luck, a few can be farmed, namely the Reload This and Headcase medals, which you will be best off trying for with a Precision Weapons (i.e. DMR, BR, Light Rifle, Covenant Carbine). Now, you need to score four in a single match but this is not really a difficult challenge if you are in a long match with a lot of players. Dominion would be my preferred gametype, though you can also have great success with Capture the Flag as those games typically go the entire time.

The Challenges:
Spartan Master Killer - Kill 20 Players in a single War Games match. - 2000 XP
Well, at least the XP is going back up a bit. I was expecting it to go up more with This first challenge, asking you to score twenty kills in a single game can be completed in no time at all. First off, you need a playlist with a lot of player and no kill limit. That pretty much means Dominion or Grifball. In Dominion, I would head for the larger vehicles, like Scorpion and Wraith Tanks. Stay near bases to play defense and you should have no trouble racking up the kills. Grifball allows you to get an insane number of kills regardless. This is also doable in most other slayer-based playlists, just easier in Dominion and Grifball.

The Challenges:
Drop Bears! - Assassinate 3 Players in a single match. - 1200 XP
As usual, like every time we get this challenge, you will need to score three assassination in a single game.

The Challenges:
That's No Moon! - Complete Requiem solo on Legendary difficulty. - 5000 XP
This isn't LASO, yet.

The Challenges:
Spartan Master Killer - Kill 15 Players in a single War Games match. - 1000 XP
It used to be that fifteen kills would get you almost three-thousand experience points. Well, not quite anymore. This first challenge, asking you to score fifteen kills in a single game can be completed in no time at all.
Deposed! - Earn 5 Regicides in a single match. - 1000 XP
Well, I wonder if this challenge could be made any easier. They could perhaps only ask for a single "Regicide." Still not onboard with this gametype at all, though. Now, a Regicide is earned when you kill the king in a game of Regicide. It used to be that this challenge required ten in a single game, but this lower total will make things much easier. Expect the typical douche-like behavior from some people who are just going for kills and not the king. I have scored eleven in a game before in FFA Regicide, but I am not expecting such glowing results today. Try to play with a few friends, if you can, as that way you can coordinate with them to take down the king faster. The longer the king stays alive, the higher his bounty probably is, and you want it as low as possible. Should take a single attempt to complete.

The Challenges:
Spray And Pray - Get 50 kills with an Automatic Loadout Weapon. - 1000 XP
Automatic Loadout Weapons in Halo 4 include the AR (Automatic Rifle), the Storm Rifle, and the Suppressor. The Needler and the Chain Gun do not count for these challenges as you cannot equip them in loadouts. These fifty kills, luckily, do not need to be in a single game and can be earned over the entire day. Whichever weapon you choose will depend on several things, the first of which being what weapons you have unlocked, the next being the type of combat you prefer. The Storm Rifle has the tightest spread but is the weakest while the Suppressor is the most powerful but is the most inaccurate. The AR sits in the middle being the best compromise to both weapons with a decently concentrated spread and good power behind it. I would stick to objective gametypes as they will allow you to get in close quarters and score these kills. Expect this challenge to take a five six games to complete.

The Challenges:
In Your Face - Earn 12 CQC Medals. - 2400 XP
I would expect to get about six or seven of these per game when actually trying, though you will not see the Bull True that often. You might complete this while working on the "Quick On The Trigger" challenge, so complete this last.

The Challenges:
Fully Automated - Get 15 kills with an Automatic Loadout Weapon in a single match. - 1000 XP
Fifteen can actually be challenging, so go for the larger objective gametypes and only use these weapons.

The Challenges:
The Pistolero - Get 8 kills with a Secondary Weapon in a single match. - 1600 XP
Secondary weapons in Halo 4 include the Magnum Pistol, the Plasma Pistol, and the Boltshot. You will not be scoring many kills with the Plasma Pistol so do not even worry about it. Since SWAT is an available playlist, this challenge is actually extremely easy to complete. Stick to the Magnum on smaller maps like Haven and go for headshots on your unshielded foes. The Boltshot is also viable and best used on a map like Adrift, which has a lot more close quarters areas, and in objective gametypes. You will need to spend a game exclusively focusing on these weapons if you plan on getting eight kills and completing this challenge. Good luck.

And now the XP value has dropped even more. Why are they afraid to give us XP? I just don't get it.

Turn It Off! - Complete Shutdown solo on Legendary difficulty. - 5000 XP
So, Shutdown actually has a shortcut now that allows you to cheat through the first two towers and you can practically make it through this level in just minutes. Who knows if this will still work once an update rolls out, but we can only hope. Now, you will start out and the jump into the Pelican attempting to fly to the towers in order to stop the Didact. Instead, you will want to fly to the final tower you go to in this level and you can just squeeze the Pelican in. Land and continue on. The game will act as though you completed everything else (thank you triggers!) and you can basically run through the final part, though watch for the hunters, to the end of the level. A video has been posted for this method, not mine, and all credit goes to Nak3dHalo for the vid.
