The Challenges:
In Your Face - Earn 20 CQC Medals. - 1600 XP
There are three Close Quarters Combat medals in Halo 4 and they are the Melee, Beat Down, and Bulltrue medals. Remember that, for the Beat Down medal, when behind an enemy, just tap melee instead of holding it to perform a Beat Down. To get these, you will typically want to be on a smaller map in an objective oriented game as it will allow you to get as many medals as possible. Oddball is typically good for close quarters combat on the smaller maps, especially if you have the ball or can use the ball-carrier to draw people in close range. As well, standard slayer games will work well too, just not as many medals per game. This challenge should only take five to eight games to complete as twenty CQC medals are easy to get. You will probably get some of these while working on the "The Kingslayer" challenge so some of it is done for you.
The Kingslayer - Earn 10 Regicides. - 1400 XP
I guess I can't bitch too much about Regicide right now, since this challenge is rather easy, and the XP value has jumped up a bit. Regardless, still seeing these too often. Now, Regicides are earned when you kill the King in a Regicide match, whether Team or Free-for-all. Unlike yesterday, you will need twelve Regicides rather than five or so. Whether you play standard Regicide or Team Regicide, slaying the King should be a regular occurrence, though less often in Team Regicide because you have an entire team to contend with. If you find it hard to come by King kills, head to the standard (FFA) Regicide and you can easily rack up the Regicides needed in two or three games (it is not uncommon to get almost ten Regicides a game in Free-for-all).
The Weekly Challenges:
To The Victor Go The Spoils - Win 30 matchmaking War Games matches. - 3500 XP
Let's just be happy we are not restricted to a certain gametype. If you are going for wins, Flood and Regicide are right out as they are Free-for-all playlists. Oddball is a great option because, if you have a good team, you can camp the ball or pass it back and forth to ensure that you keep the ball in your team's possession. For those people who want the fastest gametypes, well, that is most likely SWAT. Kills come in faster and the game can go very quickly on a smaller map. Now, if you have a good team that is coordinated, Oddball can be a very quick game as long as you pick a defensible position and get the ball immediately, as well as utilizing the pass function. This also hold true for Dominion if you can quickly capture all the bases and then eliminate the enemy team. Stay away from Capture the Flag if you are short on time as those games almost always go the entire time. Grifball has returned as well so look to that if it was good to you in Reach. You need to hit about five wins a day to make sure you get the thirty needed for this week.
One, Two, Three, Four... - Earn 50 Multikill medals. - 5000 XP
A multikills in Halo 4 is earned when you score multiple kills each within four and a half seconds of each other. These are decidedly less common in Halo 4 than they were in Reach so you really need to set up the right gametype and such to score them. Now, having access to large number of enemies and heavy weapons is a great way to score multikills. Grifball is back so that is definitely an option for this challenge because it is practically a multikills generator, though somewhat less do to everyone always having sprint. Fifty multikills will likely only take five or so games to complete in the right gametype.
