Halo 4 War Games Monthly Challenge - 10/7/13

The Monthly Challenge:
To The Victor Go The Spoils - Win 50 matchmaking War Games matches. - 17500 XP
You knew it was going to come back to this challenge, right? Though, a month without it was rather nice, but I really just don't like the idea of Monthly Challenges that much. Just not a lot you can do with them. Regardless, here we go. Eighty games also means that you need to win about two games a day this month. That will put you at sixty as long as you play every single day. In reality, they will probably give challenges each day requiring that many games and kills, so this should be partially done for us.

The Monthly Challenge:

Spartan Takedown - Kill 2500 Players. - 20000 XP
We actually went two months without them resorting to this challenge which is wonderful. Hopefully we won't see this challenge for another few months again. Tired of seeing the same challenges in a row constantly. Now, two-thousand, five-hundred kills in a single month means that you will need to score about seventy-five a day. That is a lot of multiplayer kills, to be honest, and will require a lot of work. You will want to head mostly to objective gametypes as they will allow you to score the most kills. This means gametypes like Grifball, in which you can get thirty to forty kills a game, and gametypes like Dominion. As long as they are not tied down to kill counts, as no objective games are, it will probably work well for our needs. Now, if you can, I would suggest spreading these kills out over the day. Sitting down and trying to score a hundred kills at once can be trying. Now, I would suggest trying to get as many kills as you can as early on as you can. This way, you will have some wiggle room in the later parts of the month if you cannot play for a few days and you may even finish the challenge early. Just remember that this challenge will require a lot of dedication.

Just not a lot you can do with them. Regardless, here we go. Eighty games also means that you need to win about three games a day this month. That will put you at ninety as long as you play every single day. In reality, they will probably give challenges each day requiring that many kills, so this should be partially done for us.

The Monthly Challenge:

Deadeye - Kill 1000 Players with a headshot. - 25000 XP
Well, this is the same challenge as last month but just needing less kills. You do get a better XP to kill ratio with this one however, so that is nice. Now, three-thousand kills in a single month means that you will need to score about forty a day. That is a lot of multiplayer kills, to be honest, and will require a lot of work. You will want to head mostly to objective gametypes as they will allow you to score the most kills. Really? We finally had one month were the Monthly challenge was different and then back to this bullshit. And eighty kills for half the XP we were recently awarded for thirty kills. What a fucking joke. It seems that 343i are finding more and more ways to drive players away. Eighty games also means that you need to win about three games a day this month. That will put you at ninety as long as you play every single day. In reality, they will probably give challenges each day requiring that many kills, so this should be partially done for us.

My eyes must be tricking me. Really? A Monthly Challenge that does not involve getting wins? Is this an April Fool's joke? I sure hope not because it is actually a welcome sight. Now, five-thousand kills in a single month means that you will need to score about a hundred and seventy a day. That is a lot of multiplayer kills, to be honest, and will require a lot of work. The Monthly Challenge:

Really? Yet another month and the same challenge. I guess you won't mind if I copy and paste for this one. I hope, at least. If you are going for wins, Flood and Regicide are right out as they are Free-for-all playlists. Oddball is a great option because, if you have a good team, you can camp the ball or pass it back and forth to ensure that you keep the ball in your team's possession. For those people who want the fastest gametypes, well, that is most likely SWAT. Kills come in faster and the game can go very quickly on a smaller map. Some of the faster gametypes are Free-for-alls, like Flood, so I would ignore those as well. The kill limit for all slayer matches was moved to sixty kills which will also extend all games. Now, if you have a good team that is coordinated, Oddball can be a very quick game as long as you pick a defensible position and get the ball immediately, as well as utilizing the pass function. This also hold true for Dominion if you can quickly capture all the bases and then eliminate the enemy team. Stay away from Capture the Flag if you are short on time as those games almost always go the entire time. Grifball has returned as well so look to that if it was good to you in Reach.

Halo 4 War Games Monthly Challenges - 2/1/13

The War Games Monthly Challenge:
To The Victor Go The Spoils - Win 30 matchmaking War Games matches. - 30000 XP
So, this is the same exact monthly challenge that we have had for the last three months and the only variation is the number of wins and the amount of XP given. One is going up and the other is going down. Thankfully, wins is the parameter going down and experience points is the parameter going up. I still do not see why they are incapable of doing a monthly challenge that is not based on wins. How about something like a few thousand kills or just complete a large number of games. Anyway, this is what we are tasked with so let us give it a look. You have twenty-eight days this month and thirty wins to get. That is honestly about a win a day so it seems that they are really desperate to bring players back so they are basically giving away credits. Enjoy it though.

So, this challenge again which was technically the same as the month before it. How creative 343. Way to do the least amount of work possible. Ugh. One of the draws of the challenges in Reach was that being repetitive did not happen very often and it added variety to your everyday playthrough. Halo 4 challenges seem to constantly ask you to do the same thing, over and over again, or are so bland that it simply does not matter. Something needs to change. Well, allow me to copy my guide from last month, as this is the same damn thing. This month has thirty days, so that means you need to hit about two to three wins a day. I have settled on some impressions and guidelines for scoring wins.

Halo 4 Waypoint Weekly Challenge - 12/12/12

To Be Precise - Get 200 kills with a Precision Loadout Weapon. - 7000 XP

Well, I was wondering when we were going to see these Waypoint Challenges pop-up and it seems that they will be going on in conjunction with the Infinity Challenge which will be taking place soon. It is not exactly clear what effect these challenges will have, but expect them to appear for either War Games or Spartan Ops for the next few weeks. This week, however, it is a War Games challenge and not a particularly hard one at that. Just need two-hundred precision loadout weapon kills.  Now, precision loadout weapons in Halo 4 include the DMR (Designated Marksman's Rifle), the BR (Battle Rifle), the Covenant Carbine, and the Light Rifle. Precision weapons are always headshot capable and are best used at range. SWAT is likely your best option for this challenge as the only weapon you will pretty much be using is the DMR or the BR. You can easily score ten to fifteen kills a game which means you will need to get about fifteen to twenty games in this week to complete this challenge. Really, you can likely just play normally as long as you typically you precision weapons and you should have no trouble hitting the two hundred kills. Get to it.

The War Games Monthly Challenge:
To the Victor Go the Spoils - Win 70 matchmaking War Games matches. - 150000 XP
So, for anyone who has any memory of the past month, you will quickly realize that this is the same Monthly Challenge from last month. Right off the bat, that is an absolute shame. There are so many other options for a Monthly challenge that we probably shouldn't have seen a repeat until the summer. Now, even though we have a longer amount of time to make the wins for this challenge, we actually have to make less wins, seventy in total. This month has thirty-one days, so that means you need to hit about two to three wins a day. If you do end up falling behind, luckily you likely have a winter break of some sort which will allow ample time to make up those missing wins. I have settled on some impressions and guidelines for scoring wins.

UPDATED: Halo 4 War Games Monthly Challenge - November 2012

The War Games Monthly Challenge:
To The Victor Go The Spoils - Win 117 matchmaking War Game matches. - 17343
XP So, Monthly Challenges. It is an interesting concept as long as they do not become too outlandish at first. A hundred and seventeen win is quite a bit but I cannot really quantify difficulty as of this moment due to this being a new game and having never really kept track over a month. However, you will likely need to play every day for this challenge. Halo four launched on November 6th which gives us twenty-five days to complete this challenge. That is just short of five wins a day so you will be busy. In terms of what playlists are best for quick games and wins, I will update this as soon as I get more time played in War Games as almost all of my time so far has been Campaign. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to voice them below in the comments.

Update:
So after spending the better part of this last week (or at least the weekend) in War Games, I have settled on some impressions and guidelines for scoring wins.  So, at least in the starting of this games tenure on Xbox live, having competent teammates is everything.  This will likely subside eventually but, for now, to win in any of the major playlists, you need to have a team that is at least minimally coordinated.  The only place this is not true is Big Team Infinity Slayer, which is typically a cluster-fuck anyway.  If you are going for wins, Flood and Regicide are right out as they are Free-for-all playlists.  Oddball is a great option because, if you have a good team, you can camp the ball or pass it back and forth to ensure that you keep the ball in your team's possession.  Just having a basic strategy for Oddball or King of the Hill helps immensely.  Team Slayer Pro is also a good option if you have a group that is more comfortable with Reach style multiplayer.
