Halo Reach: LASO Guide – Part 2: ONI: Sword Base - II

ONI: Sword Base LASO Walkthrough Part II:

(Find Part I here.)

Unleash Hell.

You can go either direction now, towards the Comm Station or the Anti-Air battery.  Most people seem to go towards the AA Battery, so let us do that.  There will be a small group of enemies but they are easily dispatched.  Drive your Wraith up onto the pond but do not pass it.  The General up there will nail you with a Plasma Launcher if you get to close.  Just bombard the base like crazy.

Bastard With Your Damn Concussion Rifle...

Eventually a Phantom will come and drop off more Elites, but these ones have concussion rifles.  They fire fast, accurately, and reload in about a half second.  Keep your distance from them cause they will kill you very fast.

General Down.

Another Phantom will come and drop two ghosts but they can be taken out very easily.  Once you have cleared the area, park the Wraith out of range and proceed to the base on foot.  Get inside, go up the stairs and assassinate the General-type Elite.  Remember: melee, sidestep, assassinate.

Pretty Much Out in the Open.

Now hit the switch and go back to your Wraith.  Do not continue on your path but, instead, back track to the entrance to Sword Base.  This will allow you to bypass a fairly annoying group of enemies.  Head up to the next objective and bombard it.  The targets are sitting out fairly open.

Get Out 'n Hit the Swtich.

Go around the back and make sure to mop everything up.  Go in, hit the switch and get back in the Wraith.  A Spirit will come in and drop in some troops.  Take them out with ease and go up and hit the switch.

Insta-Teleport FTW!

This is where the second player comes in handy.  You will automatically teleport to him and already be at the Sword Base gate.  Hit the button and get inside.  You can pick up the Target Locater on the right for the Plasma Pistol.

Tagged.

Enemies will come down the ramp.  After you take a few out, they will begin to retreat.  As they are retreating, tag one with the Target Locator and you can hopefully kill them all.

Right in the Way.

I was not as lucky and two Elites were left.  Sneak up the ramp and eventually they seem to forget about you.  Get behind and assassinate them.  Now that they are clear, it is time to deal with some Hunters.

Because the Wall Might Attack Him....

First of all, move up your second player.  If you do not, sometimes Kat will refuse to move and will stay rooted in her spot.  She is very useful against the Hunters and they are impossible without her.  There is a Sniper Rifle above the entrance from the beginning of the mission.  You can use this to put some shots into the Hunters and make your like easier.  Empty the clip and go pick up a Shotgun.

Clear This Room.

Now, the Hunters are not the only enemies in the room.  In the right corner, there is a smaller room with two grunts and an Elite.  Sprint to it and toss grenades in there to take care of the grunts.  Use the regular tactic for Elites and assassinate this one.

They Have Long Attention Spans.

Now you just have the Hunters.  Let Kat distract them and sneak up from behind to shotgun them in the back.  Use any grenades you have to soften them up.

Shoot.
And Sidestep.
You want to shoot, melee, and then sidestep.  Rinse and repeat for both.

Dead Hunters Are Always a Delight.

All the hard parts for this mission are now done.  Get in the elevator and finish this mission off.  You will come out and ahead there will be about four Grunts and another Elite.  You can use the wall to hide yourself from the Elite and then run up and assassinate him using the regular method.

Once the area is cleared, the doors will open up and you can join the rest of Noble Team.  Clear the area in the middle and then proceed up the small stairs in front of you.  If you crouch you can ambush the three grunts there with no problem.

Three of Them Also Come From That Exact Spot.

Now, this next part, again, credit goes to Halo.Bungie.Org for their Mythic guide.  There is a trick here that despawns most of the enemies.  Cross the chasm and kill a few of the Grunts with a well placed grenade.  Now come back and jump onto the ledge near the stairs.

Shortcut Starts Here.

And Ends Here.

Run along this to the far side of the atrium.  Go up as you normally would but, now, all the enemies are gone.  No Jackals or Grunts to deal with and, best of all, the Elite Generals are both gone.  Pick up a Rocket Launcher at the top and take out the two Jackals however you see fit.

Despawn Complete.

A Phantom will come close and drop off a pair of cloaked Elites.  The will jump off to the right and they can be taken out very easily with a rocket or two.  Watch out for the side turrets on the Phantom.  Use the boxes for cover.

Rockets Make These Two Elites Quite Visible.

Now take out the Banshees and the Phantom with rockets and you are all done.  Congrats.
