The Challenges:
One Spartan Army - Kill 150 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2250cR
So, it is Thursday and Thursday means Firefight challenges only since it has been like this for at least a year now. Man, how the time flies. A hundred and fifty kills will, thankfully, not be much of a hassle for you today thanks to the "Just Hold On..." challenge, which can have you playing a bunch of games. That challenge will take at least two games, but probably more like three to six, in the Firefight playlist, which should be enough to score a hundred and fifty kills. If you are just hiding and scoring few kills, go for a game of Score Attack afterwards and you should be able to finish off this challenge.

Just Hold On... - Complete 6 Rounds in Firefight Matchmaking without dying. - 1500cR
Due to the way this challenge is set up, this will actually be a pain in the ass to do. So, every game has waves, rounds, and set. In the Firefight playlist, every game is a set, which has three rounds. All the rounds have five waves. You will need to play at least two games to survive six rounds then but, here is the kicker, dying in one round will cause all subsequent rounds to not count for the challenge, even if you only died that once. This means that dying in the first round will effectively hose the entire game. This is why it is important to camp for at least the first and possibly second round. Maps like Beachhead and Glacier have fantastic hiding spots that area accessible via the jet-pack and will make your life a lot easier. As well, try to work with your teammates. You want to camp some, but you also need to move the game along so you can get the rounds completed. The rounds will not count unless you complete them. This should take two to four games to complete.

Katanarama - Kill 5 enemies using the Energy Sword in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2500cR
This will be one of the challenges you complete while not working on "Just Hold On..." Most likely you will end up playing in the Arcadefight NEP gametype of the Firefight playlist as it is the first option and everyone picks it. One of the loadouts in this playlist features the Sword. If you are playing through a game trying to survive the rounds unscathed and you die, might as well load up the Energy Sword loadout and go to town. You only need five kills which is a relatively small amount. I would not recommend going for this challenge while still trying to stay alive as using an Energy Sword in Firefight tends to lead to your death. This should only take a single game to complete.

Blast Radius - Kill 40 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with grenades. - 1000cR
So, we pretty much had this challenge on Monday, for the same amount of credits, but we will be going about this a different way today, mostly due to the other challenges. Instead of having a single game of Score Attack and solely focusing on Grenade kills, you will likely be playing a bunch of games for the "Just Hold On..." challenge in the regular Firefight playlist. All these grenade kills need to be done today, but not in one specific game, so do not feel bad about spreading it out. You might end up short of this challenge but if you die once, the challenge will no longer be able to be worked on that game, so might as well go for grenade kills. Should not take any extra games, unless you get really lucky.

  1. Man, usually I enjoy "Firefight Thursday", but this week's challenges pretty much suck.

Points rewarded are really cheap too. 1500cR for not dying over 6 rounds???

  2. I have to agree with that, its like the people at 343
have completely checked out, hit auto on the computer and never looked back.. the challenges each week are becoming less then satisfying to play
And ridiculously low on the point scale.
My guess is they are to focused on Halo4
as we all are... One more month to go! (and two days) haha

    1. Goes faster in the Firefight playlist however. One thing goes wrong in Firefight, then the whole game is wasted.

  4. Seriously, Gruntpocalypse on Courtyard or Corvette couldn't be simpler.

Courtyard: If you're an old fart like me just work your way down to the North end of Courtyard by the ammo cache, camp out, keep your nose down & your eyes open, watch out for FRG Grunts.

Corvette: Just hang out on the left balcony & headshot as many of the little guys as you can as they enter the map, again keep an eye out for the FRG Grunts & mind your ammo supply.

I try to stay away from larger maps like Beachead, Glacier or even Holdout. Sometimes a Grunt will get hung up in a corner somewhere & prevent the next wave from spawning.

2X Score Attack works well too if you want a little more variety & less grind.
