Halo Reach Daily and Weekly Challenges Guide - 9/24/12

The Challenges:
One Spartan Army - Kill 400 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2000cR
So, the challenges are actually really easy today and should not take a lot of hard work to complete. Seriously, it looks like you have a lot of kills to do, but most of them are in Firefight, so it is not a big deal. All of this challenge will be taken care of by the "Ride the Wave" Weekly Challenge as you can play four games in the Standard Firefight playlist and you should hit four hundreds kills (you will get about a hundred kills per game). This will also get you a great start on the Weekly Challenge since four games of standard Firefight will be sixty-four waves already completed.

Short, Controlled Bursts - Kill 50 enemies with automatic weapons in the Campaign today. - 1000cR
Well, they couldn't all be Firefight today, I guess. I would rather have this challenge in Campaign then Firefight though, so here is what you need to do to finish this one off. Load up Winter Contingency and simply play through the level on Heroic. Stick to using only automatic weapons (AR, Needler, Plasma Repeater, Plasma Rifle) and you should have no problem hitting fifty before you finish the mission. Remember that as long as you damage the enemy, your AI teammates can score the kill and it will count for you. This means that you should just spray into enemy groups to score as many kills as possible.

Hyper Lethal Vector - Kill 150 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2125cR
This is another rather easy challenge today, asking you to score a hundred and fifty headshots in Firefight Matchmaking. Now, you will be playing about four games today for the "One Spartan Army" challenge and will end up scoring about four hundred or so kills. You need to make three eights of those headshot kills. Now, you will want to stick to headshot capable weapons that are effective in Firefight, which means the DMR and the Sniper. If you get the Arcadefight playlist, those two weapons are in a loadout together and ammunition is unlimited. Expect this to take a few games though, as most other players will use the Rockets and the like to steal a lot of your kills.

Above the Law - Complete a Round in Firefight Matchmaking without dying. - 2000cR
This challenge is another reason why you should play in the standard Firefight playlist. Surviving in Score Attack can be a pain because you need to complete the game for it to count. If you are trying to survive, you will likely not do a great job killing everything and therefore might not complete the round before time expires. This is why it is good to play with multiple people. You can just complete that first round and then polish off the game. Please note that if you die in the first round, it will likely make all other rounds of that game not count towards the challenge. You will need to wait for the next game to try again. Best maps are ones like Beachhead or Glacier, as they have great hiding spots.

The Weekly Challenge:
Like A Record, Baby - Complete 100 Rounds in Firefight Matchmaking. - 20000cR

This challenge is actually extremely easy, in comparison to other Weekly Challenges since you can complete a bunch of waves per game. Now, Firefight consists of Sets, which are three Rounds, which are five waves. If you play in the Score Attack playlist, you will only get to play on round per game, so five waves. However, if you play in the standard Firefight Playlist, you will get to a full set, plus a bonus round. That means sixteen rounds per game. The standard Firefight playlist games will only take about five minutes longer, as long as your entire team is active. You can basically play two Firefight Matchmaking games a day and be done with this challenge on Friday, but I would suggest playing three or more and just getting this one done. Three a day and this challenge is done on Wednesday.

UPDATE: So this challenge is now asking us to complete a hundred rounds in Firefight Matchmaking.  Not much changes from the strategy, but plan to play a hell of a lot more games.  Aim for about five a day, giving you fifteen every day.  Add a few extra in to make up for earlier this week and for games that do not complete all three rounds.  This should take you all the way to Sunday, so if you miss a day, you are going to be in a large whole.  On the bright side, at least it is worth twenty-thousand credits now instead of eight thousand.

  2. I'm not sure if this is just my game being glitched or if it's for everyone but it seems that the weekly challenge has been changed to "Like a Record, Baby" for 20000 CR. This challenge requires you to complete 100 Rounds in Firefight Matchmaking.
