Halo 4 War Games Daily and Weekly Challenges - 7/22/13

The Challenges:

Deft Hand - Earn 8 Combat Skill Medals. - 1200 XP
Combat Skill medals include the Killjoy, Headcase, From the Grave, Reload This, and Showstopper medals. You need eight of these overall today and so you will need to be ready to play a lot of games. Use precision weapons (DMR, BR, Light Rifle, Sniper) to score Headcase (headshot on a running target) medals and then use grenades when you are near death for the From the Grave medal. Reload This is pretty much dependent on the other player but people need to reload their weapons. Killyjoys and Showstoppers are a bit more rare and harder to get so do not focus on them. You can expect to get about two to four medals a game. Complete "Raise The Flag" first, however, as you will probably get some Combat Skill medals while playing it.

Raise The Flag - Win 5 matchmaking Capture the Flag matches. - 1500 XP
So, about two weeks ago, this challenge for two less wins was worth almost four times as much experience points. Way to hit us when we are down, 343i. Not only do you make it harder, but you reward us less. Come on. You can do better. Regardless, Capture the Flag is a gametype where you need a communicative team to help you capture the flag, but also defend you own flag. The one shitty thing about capture the flag is that it often goes down to the time limit with no one getting the required five scores to win it. Most of the maps are simply too big for that. So, one way to speed it up is to pick smaller maps. You will need to venture into the Capture The Flag playlist for this challenge, obviously, but games can also be had in the DLC, Team Doubles, and Team Objective playlists.

The Weekly Challenges:
To The Victor Go The Spoils - Win 50 matchmaking War Games matches. - 20000 XP
Well, this will be a pain in the ass. It is more than what we have needed for two recent Monthly Challenges. Well, I hope you are lucky. If you are going for wins, Flood and Regicide are right out as they are Free-for-all playlists. Oddball is a great option because, if you have a good team, you can camp the ball or pass it back and forth to ensure that you keep the ball in your team's possession. For those people who want the fastest gametypes, well, that is most likely SWAT. Kills come in faster and the game can go very quickly on a smaller map. Now, if you have a good team that is coordinated, Oddball can be a very quick game as long as you pick a defensible position and get the ball immediately, as well as utilizing the pass function. This also hold true for Dominion if you can quickly capture all the bases and then eliminate the enemy team. Stay away from Capture the Flag if you are short on time as those games almost always go the entire time. Grifball has returned as well so look to that if it was good to you in Reach. You need to hit about seven wins a day with a few days hitting eight to make sure you get fifty.

Rolling Thunder - Earn 20 Killing Spree medals. - 10000 XP
A Killing Spree in War Games is earned when you score five kills in a row. As this challenge stipulates "Killing Spree medals" other sprees such as weapon and miscellaneous sprees will not count. Twenty in a single week is not at all a large task as long as you stick to objective games where it is easiest to get sprees. You will need at least three a day this week to complete this challenge but can likely score more. First off, Dominion has been the best gametype for me in terms of getting sprees, especially on Vortex where you can get in a Wraith and just sit back and defend your base while attacking the middle base. I would expect to get two or so sprees per game so this one is pretty much taken care of after a few games. Flood and Regicide can also be good playlists for Sprees as well as Big Team Infinity Slayer if you get lucky and end up with a tank.
