Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 8/30/12

The Challenges:
Light Fare - Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 3000cR
Unfortunately, today, for the other challenges, you will need to play multiple games so this will not all be done in a single game. Sparing the "Demon" challenge, it probably could have been, but that will take two extra games by itself to complete. Now, a typical game in the Score Attack playlist will get you about a hundred and twenty kills. You only need a hundred kills for this challenge so it seems like this one is well taken care of. Pretty much, just ignore this challenge and move onto the other ones which will actually take effort to complete.

Survivor - Earn 7 Sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game. - 2000cR
A spree in Firefight Matchmaking is when you earn ten kills in a row, uninterrupted by your death. You can get up to fifty kills and get five sprees but, after that, things get more spaced out. The next spree comes at a hundred kills and then at five hundred, I believe. You will only be getting about a hundred and twenty kills in any particular game so you will either need a weapon spree (i.e. Shotgun Spree, Sniper Spree, etc.) to complete this challenge, which will not happen in Gruntpocalypse but can happen in 2X Score Attack, or you will need to die on purpose to get the sprees reset. Therefore, I would suggest that you work on this challenge when working on Demon. The double damage will make it easier anyway.

Demon - Kill 40 Elites in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2800cR
Elites are the hardest enemies you will face in Firefight, but if you can get the right gametype in the right playlist, they become exceedingly easy to kill. Now, for us, that gametype is 2X Score Attack. The final wave of this gametype is always twenty or so Elites that are very easy to kill thanks to the double damage. As this only supplies about twenty elites to kill (plus or minus one or two Elites), you will need to complete two game to succeed at this challenge. There is even a chance that you could still fall short there so go with large open maps, like Beachhead, in the hope that you get an Elite-filled drop-pod to put you over the edge. Remember, two games.

Be Their Huckleberry - Kill 50 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with the pistol. - 2500cR
Ahh, the Magnum Pistol. To be honest, fifty kills is actually not a lot in Firefight Matchmaking, In multiplayer, this would likely be grueling, but not so with Firefight. Now, you will want to play in the Score Attack playlist for this one as well and choose the gametype called Gruntpocalypse. Gruntpocalypse will only give you a DMR and a pistol and you will only have Grunts to kill. See how this works itself out? Most Grunts will only take a single headshot to down but you also must remember that ammunition is not unlimited in Gruntpocalypse so know where the ammo lockers are. Should take only one game to complete.

  1. In Survivor, you can use a sticky spree for the seventh spree (assuming you only get six sprees by surviving until the end), so it technically is possible in Gruntpocalypse. That said, 2 games of 2x should allow one to easily complete all 4 challenges.
