Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 7/10/12

The Challenges:
One Spartan Army - Kill 250 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 3500cR
Two-hundred and fifty kills is actually kind of a mean number. If you play Score Attack, you know that you typically only have a chance at about a hundred and twenty kills a game. Playing that twice puts you at two-hundred and forty kills, just ten short of this challenge. This means you will need to play one game afterwards, likely of Crashsite in the Score Attack playlist, to complete this challenge. On the other hand, you can play two games of Arcadefight in the Firefight Doubles playlist and you will have more than enough kills to complete this challenge. Now, those game will take slightly longer, but not by much.

Demon - Kill 40 Elites in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2800cR
Elites are, by far, the toughest enemies in the game (Hunters are too slow to be the toughest) and never really come out in great numbers except in certain playlists. 2X Score Attack in the Score Attack playlist is one possible avenue through which you can go and get some Elite kill as the final wave will always be twenty Elites for you to kill. You would have to play that twice, however. The other possible route is for you to play Arcadefight in Firefight Doubles. For at least two waves, there will likely be just Elites and they can be very annoying, but you might have an easier time of it with a teammate. This will also likely take two games, but these games are slightly longer than 2X Score Attack so both have advantages and disadvantages.

Leadership Element - Kill 30 enemy leaders in the Campaign today. - 2750cR
Now, when they say "enemy leaders" in these challenges, what they mean is Elites. No clue whether it was actually meant that way, but that is how it always seems to play out. Certain levels are best for "enemy leader" kills and those are ONI: Swordbase and Long Night of Solace (after Rally Point Bravo). Either one is fine, though I think ONI: Swordbase has slightly more kill and would only require one playthrough, whereas Long Night of Solace might require two. Set you difficulty to Heroic and remember that also long as you damage the Elite, AI teammates getting the kill will stand count as you getting the kill.

Double Nickel - Earn 2 Killing Sprees in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 3000cR
A spree in multiplayer Matchmaking is typically five kills in a row. As this challenge stipulates "Killing Sprees," this means that weapons spree and the like will not count towards this total. One of the best ways to get Killing Spree is to play Living Dead as long as you are a survivor. It is, typically, pretty easy to score Killing Sprees in that playlist as long as you are careful and use the correct weapons are the correct range. You can also try for objective based games and get players as they are going for the objective. Either one should work but might take a game or two to complete.

  1. On the Leadership Element challenge, why would the difficulty of campaign matter? It just says "in the campaign." You'd think if they wanted specifically killed in a certain difficulty, they'd list it.

    1. On lower difficulties, AI Teammates are more effective and therefore more likely to steal kills from you. Raising the difficulty lets you ensure that all the kills go to you.

  2. More "leader" on Heroic
