The Challenges:
Blastin' and Relaxin' - Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 2343cR
Since you are being asked to play multiple games in Firefight Matchmaking today for the "Demon" challenge, you should have no trouble scoring a hundred and eighty kills today. You will also have, at least, a partial campaign mission playthrough for the "Nature vs. Nurture" challenge and at least on game in multiplayer Matchmaking for the "Not as Clumsy or Random..." challenge. If you do somehow end up short, just play a game of 2X Score Attack or Gruntpocalypse to finish off this challenge.

Demon - Kill 30 Elites in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2400cR
As you may know, I would typically suggest that you play 2X Score Attack in the Score Attack playlist twice for this challenge. Today, however, I am changing my tune a little due to the Weekly Challenge. You are better off playing three or four games in the Firefight Playlist instead since it will allow you to rack up a bunch of Waves for the Weekly. Elites appear quite often in the Firefight playlist so you should be able to rack up at least ten to fifteen kills a game. Expect this method to take you two to three games to complete.

Nature vs. Nurture - Kill 15 Moa in Winter Contingency on Normal or harder. - 4000cR

So, this challenge is actually a lot easier than it sounds. Basically, Moa are the ostrich looking things on the very first mission, Winter Contingency, that just tend to get in the way. At the very start of the level you will receive a checkpoint right in front of two Moa. Kill those two and then go to the start menu and hit "Reload Checkpoint" to bring you right back in front of the two Moa. And kill them again. Rinse and repeat until you get to fifteen kills. That is about as simple as it gets.

Not as Clumsy or Random... - Earn 5 kills with precision weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2000cR
This is the lone multiplayer Matchmaking challenge of the day and will have you playing in either the Team SWAT or Team Snipers playlist if you want it done really fast. Team SWAT starts you with a DMR and shots to the head are a one-hit kill. Team Snipers starts you with the Sniper, obviously, and shots to the head are a one-hit kill. Pick your poison but these are the best options for anyone having trouble. You can also get this done in playlists like regular Team Slayer or Invasion, but there is no guarantee of starting with these weapons and they can be hard to find on some maps. Take the path of least resistance.

The Challenges:
More than a Handful - Kill 25 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2000cR
There is no really need to worry about this challenge today as you need to play seven games for "The Magic Number" challenge. In seven games, if you do not have at least twenty-five kills (you should have about seventy-five to a hundred kills) something has gone horribly wrong. You really should be hitting about ten to fifteen kills a game and even more in some playlists (like Grifball and Multi Team). Regardless, if you hit about four kills a game today, you will complete this challenge.

... Got a Triple Double - Earn 3 Double Kills in the same match in Multiplayer Matchmaking. - 3000cR
As you likely know, a Double Kill in multiplayer Matchmaking is awarded when you score two kills within four seconds of each other in a match. Now, that scoring a Double Kill by itself is actually quite easy and should be a regular occurrence for you in multiplayer Matchmaking. Getting three in a game will likely be tougher for some. I will be urging you to play in the Multi Team play list for the "Light Fuse, Run Away" challenge and that is also a good place to farm multi kills using, pretty much, the same strategy to farm grenade kills. Grifball is also a great fallback.

Light Fuse, Run Away - Kill 4 enemies with grenades in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2100cR
If you have yet to figure it out (and I'm willing to bet that you have) a grenade kill is earned by killing some with a grenade. Shocking right? So, the best playlist for this challenge is Multi Team. Specifically games like Crazy King or Oddball (not Three Ball, which is a horrible gametype) are great for grenade kills since the objective acts like a target. You know where people will be and when they are there, so just grenade them every chance you get. Four kills might take a game or two but, still, easily within most players abilities if you are consciously trying for it.

The Magic Number - Complete 7 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 3000cR
Short of the Weekly Challenge, all the other challenge today are in multiplayer Matchmaking so at least your challenge experience will be focused. Now you will likely be playing one or two games for the "... Got a Triple Double" challenge and possibly one more while trying to get the "Light Fuse, Run Away" challenge, but it all depends on what playlist you pick. After that, play whatever you want since you will still need games to hit seven. Team SWAT tends to be one of the faster gametypes as long as the map is small since players die so quickly. Try to stick to Slayer gametypes.

The Weekly Challenge:
Ride the Wave - Complete 150 Waves in Firefight Matchmaking. - 30000cR

I must say that I do find it weird that when we had this challenge recently, and it required more waves, it gave us less credits. Still less work for more credits sounds great to me. So, in a game of Firefight things are divided up by Sets, Rounds, and Waves. Typically, there are five waves in a Round, and three Rounds in a Set plus a bonus round of one wave. The number of Sets depends on the game but with Matchmaking, the most you can typically have is one, which means sixteen waves. Now, the Firefight Playlist (formerly Firefight Arcade) is your best option for this challenge. The best gametypes are ones like Arcade Fight that will allow the game to go as quick as possible. Other gametypes are doable too, like Rocket Attack, but you need to make sure that your team gets through all the waves. This can be done by picking smaller maps so the enemies get to you quicker. This challenge will only take ten games to complete. Play two a day and you are all set.

The Challenges:
Light Fare - Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 3000cR
So, you will be required to play in all the various modes of Reach today (short of Forge, Theater, and Custom Games) if you hope to complete these challenges. This one, however, is of no consequence and should take very little time. You have "The Little Guys" challenge asking you to score two -hundred kills and the "Heroic Overwatch" challenge asking you to score a hundred kills. That puts you at three hundred kills for the day excluding the multiplayer Matchmaking challenge. I think that takes care of this challenge.

The Little Guys - Kill 200 Grunts in Campaign today on Normal or harder. - 2500cR

So, two hundred Grunts today in campaign is not a hard number to hit, but it will take a little time. First off, if you have yet to complete the Weekly Challenge, do so now. It is the last day and it will also score you some Grunt kills. After that, I would start on Winter Contingency on Heroic and just keep playing through campaign until you hit two-hundred Grunt kills. If you kind a spot with a lot of Grunts that you like, you can possibly hit Reload Last Checkpoint and keep playing that spot over and over, but that probably gets old pretty quick. I would just play through campaign and get it that way. Might take into Nightfall.

Heroic Overwatch - Kill 100 enemies on Overlook on Heroic in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2200cR
You know, the first time I saw this challenge this morning, I thought it was the "Kill a thousand enemies" one. Luckily, you need to score a tenth of that on Overlook. Basically, you just need to complete a single game from the Score Attack playlist on this map. Games like Gruntpocalypse and 2X Score Attack will typically get you about a hundred and twenty kills so a hundred should be very easy to obtain. And yes, this should only take you a single game to complete.

Freelancing - Earn at least 21 kills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2100cR
This is the lone multiplayer challenge of the day, though, we have seen a lot of multiplayer this week. Twenty-one kills in a single game will definitely be a challenge for some as that is simply a lot of kills. Your best bets are the play objective-gametypes or games with a bunch of targets. If you can get both, even better. Try Grifball or Multi Team. Grifball just allows you to get a tone of kills and Multi Team can do the same if you can pick an objective gametype in it. This might take two or three games for you to hit.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 6/9/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

Check out my post talking about the Halo 4 gameplay trailer at E3!

The Challenges:
Shootin' and Lootin' - Kill 150 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 5343cR
This is the standard "kill X number of enemies" challenge that we see every day. The other challenges today, however, will likely not get this done for you unless you attempt the Weekly Challenge. Then you may have a shot. Now, if you are short a bunch of kills, my advice is for you to do a quick game in the Score Attack playlist. This can be either 2X Score Attack or Gruntpocalypse or even Crashsite if you need a small amount of kills. Regardless, get to it. These enemies aren't going to kill themselves (well, some might).

Helping Hand - Earn 10 assists today in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2000cR
You have probably gotten a lot of assists before. You likely called them something else (i.e. "That douche just stole my kill!) or didn't even notice it happened. Whenever you deal at least forty percent damage to an enemy and someone else takes that kill, you score an assist. The larger the number of players and the smaller the space, the more assists you will likely get. This make Multi Team a prime candidate for this challenge though regular Team Slayer can function just as well if you communicate with your teammates. On average, I get about three to five a game so this challenge would take three to four games for me. Might be quicker or longer for you.

Not as Clumsy or Random... - Earn 5 kills with precision weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2000cR
As many of you may know by now, precision weapons are my favorite. Trust me, I was salivating over seeing the BR return in that Halo 4 E3 footage. But, to the point, the precision weapons you have to work with in Reach are the DMR, the Sniper Rifle, the Needler, and the Covenant Beam Rifle. You just need five kills within a single game with a precision weapon, which is about half of what you should be hitting on average in a game that features such arms. Team Snipers and Team SWAT are the obvious options but also because they are the best. A game in one of those and you are all set.

Just a Shower - Complete any Campaign mission on Normal or harder with Thunderstorm on. - 4000cR

So, if you have yet to complete the Weekly Challenge, you can knock two birds out with one stone today. The Weekly Challenge, which has you running the mission Tip of the Spear on LASO difficulty has the Thunderstorm turned on. Now, the Thunderstorm Skull simply upgrades all the enemies you face, if they can be upgraded, to the next highest tier. This means upgrades to health, damage, shields, and physical armor. Contrarily, you can also do a speedrun of Nightfall and complete the challenge in about ten minutes. See how to here.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 6/8/12

Check out my post talking about the Halo 4 gameplay trailer at E3!

The Challenges:
Blastin' and Relaxin' - Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 2343cR
So, as is par for the course, after every Firefight Thursday, we get a Multiplayer Friday. Well, let's ignore the fact that some days would have sounded better with those (Firefight Friday, Multiplayer Monday) and focus on the task at hand. A hundred and eighty enemies should not too hard to hit today, but the other Daily Challenges will not get it done for you. After you finish the other challenges, you might be best off playing some Firefight Matchmaking to finish off these kills. Entirely up to you though.

T-Hug It Out - Kill 6 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2400cR
If you have been doing that challenges long enough, you should now know that close quarters combat kills are kills with the Shotgun, Energy Sword, Gravity Hammer, Melee, or Assassination. You need six of these in a single game. Now, you can likely get these in a regular game or you can load up Grifball for this express purpose and only get close quarters combat kills. Personally, with the other challenges today you are probably better off in Multi Team where you can work on those other challenges.

I'm Rubber, You're Glue - Earn 1 sticky grenade Kills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2000cR
A single sticky grenade kill should not, actually, be too hard to come by. Most maps have plasma grenade spawns somewhere or you can go the easier route and simply try Elite Slayer, which you will commonly see in the Multi Team playlist. There is no real trick to this challenge, just stick one opponent with a Plasma Grenade and then let that grenade kill them. As simple as that. Move on.

Now I Have a Machine Gun - Earn 100 kills with automatic weapons in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 4500cR
Well, you knew there was going to be one challenge today that would cause you to cringe. It causes me to cringe at least. Automatic weapons in Reach (the AR, Needler, Spiker, Plasma Rifle, and Plasma Repeater) largely go unused in multiplayer unless you spawn with them. I would be tempted to say that the DMR probably has caused the most multiplayer kills in Reach, but that is speculation. Now Multi Team is probably the best playlist for this challenge (seeing a pattern yet?) as you practically always start with ARs. Expect this challenge to take a while however, as you may only get about ten kills a game. If you have a playlist you prefer, please share down below for the other readers.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 6/7/12

Check out my post talking about the Halo 4 gameplay trailer at E3!

The Challenges:
Covenant-cide - Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 3200cR
No need to worry about this challenge today, at all. You see that "Fortified Court" challenge down at the bottom? If not, go look. See it? Cool. That sucker has you scoring a thousand kills in Firefight Matchmaking on a single map. Sounds to me like that will cover a plain hundred and twenty kills in Firefight Matchmaking almost eight times over. Just worry about the other challenges.

A Simple Spree - Earn any spree in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2000cR
This challenge should be a given even if you do not complete all the other challenges. A spree in Firefight Matchmaking, which is ten kills uninterrupted by death, is such a common event that you should have it in your first ten kills. After you get that first spree, die all you want as you only need one. Do be careful that you do not use up all your respawns though, cause that might be embarrassing.

Flat Tire - Kill 5 enemy vehicles in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2000cR
Your best bet for snagging this challenge, like usual, is to try for Holdout with the Sniper Attack gametype in Score Attack. On Holdout, there are two static Banshee spawns that work together to spawn a Banshee about every two and a half to five minutes. This means that you will get about three to five Banshee spawns a game. Kite around the final enemies so you give the Banshees more time to spawn. If you cannot get Sniper Attack, aim for Rocket or FRG Attack. Do not do 2X Score Attack as the kills generally don't count. Should take one to two games to complete.

Fortified Court - Kill 1000 enemies on Courtyard in Firefight Matchmaking. - 3000cR
Well, this will take a while. Sadly, you cannot work on this challenge while working on the "Flat Tire" challenge as there are no vehicle spawns on Courtyard. So, do "Flat Tire" first then move to this one. I would stick to Score Attack as that will allow you to almost always choose this map and get about a hundred and twenty kills per game. Gruntpocalypse and 2X Score Attack are the preferred gametypes as they are the fastest. This will take about eight games to complete or possibly more if you do not complete all those games. Buckle up, though, cause it is a long ride.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 6/6/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

Check out my post talking about the Halo 4 gameplay trailer at E3!

The Challenges:
Light Fare - Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 3000cR
No need to worry about this challenge, like usual, as you will have it taken care or by the other challenges today. "Hyper Lethal Vector" has you scoring a hundred kills in Firefight Matchmaking and "The Little Guys" has you scoring seventy-five kills in Campaign which will put you well over the a hundred kills needed for this challenge. Easy credits here so simply move on to the other challenges and ignore this one.

Hyper Lethal Vector - Kill 100 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking. - 3000cR
The best way to complete this challenge, which is requiring a hundred headshot kills in Firefight Matchmaking, is to load up Gruntpocalypse in the Score Attack playlist. Gruntpocalypse features only Grunts, who can all be easily killed via a headshot, and starts you with a DMR, which is a headshot capable weapon. That sounds like a recipe for success for me. You should be able to surpass a hundred kills easily so no actual reason to worry here. Just get to sending those Grunts running for their food nipples.

The Little Guys - Kill 75 Grunts in Campaign today on Normal or harder. - 2000cR

So seventy-five Grunt kills in Campaign. Sounds pretty simplistic and that is because it is simplistic. There is no real trick to this challenge at all, unless you want to do a bunch of "Reload Last Checkpoint" commands through the start menu. Start with Winter Contingency and try to put fire on every Grunt you see. As long as you damage them, it does not matter who gets the kill, you will get credit for it. I would start with Winter Contingency on Heroic. This might take you into ONI: Swordbase but not too much after that.

Un, Deux, Trois - Win 3 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2900cR
I wonder if we will have a day this week where we are not required to play games in multiplayer Matchmaking. It is becoming an annoying trend as every day we need apparently need to win or play a certain number of games in multiplayer. As well, the other challenges today are Firefight so this challenge is isolated, in a sense. At least three wins is a low number but could take double that number of games to complete. Play in playlists you enjoy and do well in but try to sticks to gametypes that only have two teams of no more than five players. As well, play with friends since you will likely play better with them and have better coordination.
