Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 7/13/11

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:
Gunslinger - Kill 150 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking.
This is a large amount of kills to claim in a single day, but you have to play seven games anyway for "The Magic Number" challenge. Grifball can get you that many kills in that small number of games and you might be able to hit pretty close with Multi Team as well. If you have any playlists that you excel at, try those first and try to rack up some kills. Though, Grifball is still the best options for lots of kills very fast.

Hyper Lethal Vector - Kill 150 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking.
Two games of Gruntpocalypse in the Score Attack playlist will get this challenge done. You will be sticking to the DMR as much as you can though the pistol is also a head-shot capable weapon. You just get better range with the DMR. You should get about a hundred or so headshots in the first game and then you will get the remaining fifty or so when you play your second game. Not hard at all.

Points Pyramid - Score 100,000 points on any Campaign mission.
The trick to get this done quickly is "Banshee Hunting" on the level New Alexandria. Video of this method can be seen here. Basically, turn on some difficulty score that will not really effect flying (i.e. Iron, Tough Luck, Catch, Thunderstorm, Famine) and just go around kill Banshees and Phantoms. You can actually end the game before hitting a hundred-thousand points since the multipliers will take care of the rest. This is very similar to the "Not Lough, High" Weekly challenge we had a couple months ago. This takes like ten minutes so it is not hard at all. Completing the Weekly Challenge in an expedient manner will also likely net you this challenge, but I haven't checked that.

The Magic Number - Complete 7 games in multiplayer Matchmaking.
Well, we had win seven games yesterday so this is a breeze by comparison. Living Dead games are typically the fastest though they can end up extending longer and becoming really annoying games, but most other games are guaranteed to be about ten minutes. SWAT and Grifball are other options. Those gametypes can go very fast if you know what you are doing. And nothing here is requiring you to win any other these games, but please do not idle. That will just earn you the Ban-Hammer award.

  1. When they are campaign challenges, are they always solo, or can you do co-op?

  2. You can do Co-Op as well, not sure how it counts the scoring however. Best set the Scoring to Team and see what happens.

  3. I firmly believe that you can't use team scoring for a points challenge- the scoring has to be done on an individual level. I've tried it before when Reach first came out. If anything, put it on 'free for all' and have fun with your buddy until you and/or they hit the 100k. I put it on Heroic with several skulls and got short of 10k points for taking down each Phantom.

The only other time I'd do any campaign challenge in co-op would be is if it was one with a time limit stipulation (Nightfall+forklift glitch).

But I prefer just going alone on all of them.

  4. Oh, the question was 'can you'? Sure- you just gotta follow their stipulation.

  5. Last thing-
Think of it like this: if you need to 'Score 30,000 pts on a game of firefight matchmaking', team score won't net you the challenge.

And I did the weekly...it put me to zero points whenever I would save and quit (stupid Iron Skull). Best stick to Banshee/Phantom hunting.
