Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/7/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:
Shootin' and Lootin' - Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 2000cR
This challenge will be taken care of by the other challenges today. You will likely be play two games of Firefight Arcade or Doubles for the "Supporting Role" challenge, likely a speedrun of Nightfall for the "Iron Will" challenge, and then a multiplayer Matchmaking game for the "Not as Clumsy or Random" challenge. If you do end up a bit short I would just play some Grifball or something to take care of those remaining kills.

Supporting Role - Earn 20 assists in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1500cR
For this challenge you will need to play either Firefight Arcade or Firefight Doubles. The real point is that you need to have teammates to play the match with, otherwise you will not be getting any assists. You will need to deal an enemy about forty percent or more damage and then have another teammate score the kill. This is easier in Firefight Arcade once you get to the later rounds as the Mythic Skull is turned on and it is harder to kill enemies. Do not go for a gametype like Rocket or FRG Attack as those are pretty much insta-kill weapons. Remember to also communicate with your teammates so they know you are going for assists. Expect this to take two games.

Iron Will - Complete a Campaign mission alone on Heroic or harder with the Iron Skull on. - 2500cR

As usual, the quickest way to get through a campaign mission with a skull on of any sort is to do a speedrun of Nightfall as you can run through the entire mission and hardly need to stop in about seven to eight minutes. A guide to the speed run can be seen here along with video of the run right here. The only trying part will be glitching through the gate using the Forklift. This is the part where most people die and will also be the most irritating, but follow the video and you should be able to find the right spot.

Not as Clumsy or Random... - Earn 5 kills with precision weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2000cR
Five kills with a precision weapon should take you a single game of Team SWAT or Team Snipers to complete. Both playlists allow you to get one-shot head shot kills with the DMR and Sniper, respectively. If you are having problems getting five kills in one of these games, I do not know what to tell you as this is the easiest way to do it. This will also be doable in Arena or and Slayer DMRs game in the Team Slayer playlist. Have at it.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/6/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:
One Spartan Army - Kill 400 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2000cR
Four hundred kills in Firefight Matchmaking is one of those large number kill quotas that is actually very easy to complete. A single game of Firefight Matchmaking in the Score Attack playlist will get you about a hundred and twenty kills. Unless my math is horrible, that will take you about four games to hit four hundred kills. You will be playing two or more games of 2X Score Attack for the "Demon" challenge so you just need to play something for the other two. Overall, not hard challenges today except for the "Who's the Big Winner?" challenge. What are you thinking 343i? Mass Effect 3 comes out today...

Demon - Kill 40 Elites in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2800cR

You are already going to be playing about four games of Firefight for the "One Spartan Army" challenge, so another objective during those games will be to score some Elite kills. You will need forty, to be exact and one gametype in particular is great for scoring these kills. I am, of course, referring to 2X Score Attack in which the final wave is, always, about twenty or so Elites for you to kill. Since damaged is doubled the DMR or the AR is perfect for slaying them. You should have this finished in two games.

...Is a Virtue - Score 40,000 points in any Campaign mission with less than 3 deaths. - 2000cR
This is another instance where I will suggest that you go Banshee hunting on the mission New Alexandria on Heroic. Turn on the Iron, Tough Luck, Catch, Thunderstorm, and Famine skulls to get a nice set of multipliers and then fly around just shooting Banshees. You only need to get to forty-thousand points, so this should be a rather easy run. Video of the method can be seen here. By the way, do not complain to me about this taking too long if you do not turn on all the skulls. You get less points with less skulls on.

Who's the Big Winner? - Win 10 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 5343cR
This will be the annoyingly painful challenge of the day. Winning any number of games always becomes hectic and a bother since, whenever I try for something like this, it always takes me forever since I'm trying hard to win instead of just relaxing and playing. And there-in lies the biggest tip I have for this challenge. Relax! If you press really hard you will likely not play well and will get angry. Just relax and play as you normally would and the wins will come. As well, play in playlists that you enjoy and try to play with people that you normally play well with. However, be prepared for this to take well more than ten games. Might even take twenty. Good luck.

Halo Reach Daily and Weekly Challenges Guide - 3/5/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:
Fire When Ready - Kill 30 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1100cR
I am directing you to play Grifball for the "Up Close and Personal" challenge, so that should take care of a chunk of kills for this challenge if not completing it outright. Thirty kills do not need to be completed in a single game as but you very well might do so in Grifball. If you end up short of kills, I would just play another game of Grifball as no other gametype lets you get as many kills as quickly.

Up Close and Personal - Kill 8 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1600cR

Close quarters combat kills are typically any kill via a Gravity Hammer, Energy Sword, Shotgun, Melee with any weapon, bomb, or skull, or an assassination. This is most easily done in the Grifball playlist, playing a standard game of Grifball. This gametypes will typically get you about twenty to thirty kills a game and almost all of them will be close quarters combat kills. That should make this, and the "Fire When Ready" challenge, exceedingly easy. No sweat at all for you.

The Little Guys - Kill 200 Grunts in Campaign today on Normal or harder. - 2500cR
Grunts are the easiest possibly enemy to kill on pretty much any difficulty. There are also, typically, a lot of them on all of the levels. I would not do this challenge on Legendary, or on Co-op for that matter, like the Weekly Challenge, but Solo and on Heroic. Start with Winter Contingency and just play through till you hit two-hundred kills. A good thing to note is that you do not need to actually kill the Grunts, but just do them damage. Then you AI teammate can kill them and you still get credit for it. This challenge may very well take into Nightfall or Tip of the Spear to complete.

Survivor - Earn 9 Sprees in a Firefight Matchmaking game. - 2000cR
A spree in Firefight Matchmaking is ten kills in a row, uninterrupted by death. You will be awarded a spree medal every ten kills until you hit fifty kills. Once you hit fifty kills, the next spree comes at a hundred, then five-hundred, and then a thousand. You will not be hitting those last two, which means that you can only get six sprees per game if you do not die. Well, we need nine which means you will need to die to complete this challenge. Load up a game in the Score Attack playlist and die once you hit fifty kills and then just start all over. This way you can actually hit ten sprees in a single game.

The Weekly Challenge:
Legendary Friends - Complete any Campaign mission on Legendary in co-op mode. - 10000cR
This is really not much of a challenge, to be honest, since most people tackle Legendary difficulty in co-operative play. Winter Contingency is probably the easiest level in the game to try this on. The only real challenging part is the Zealot class Elites at the end of the mission. You can also try to run through Nightfall, which should be interesting with two players, but is definitely doable. The one important thing to remember about any co-operative play is that in Reach, the difficulty will scale up more with more players on a mission. So the more help you have, the harder it gets. I would not try to run this challenge with four players as that will just make it even more difficult.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/4/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:
Covenant-cide - Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 3200cR
To complete this challenge, hopefully you will only need to complete a single game in the Firefight Matchmaking playlists. Score Attack is probably the best playlist for this as it has gametypes like 2X Score Attack and Gruntpocalypse which let you get about a hundred and twenty kills a game. Sometimes you will come up a few kills short and you might be forced to complete another game or play a game of Crashsite to finish off the challenge.

Be Their Huckleberry - Kill 100 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with the pistol. - 2500cR

This challenge is asking for a hundred kills with the pistol (Magnum) in Firefight Matchmaking. You can likely do this in a single game of Gruntpocalypse, I believe. Gruntpocalypse starts you with the DMR and the pistol if I am not mistaken and the only real issue you have is ammunition. You carry limited ammo for the pistol and will need to stay close to the ammo crates to get refills when needed. Most of the Grunts can be killed by one shot to the head except for the Ultras which take two. You should finish this off in a single game.

L.D. Nightfall - Complete Nightfall, without dying, on Legendary with Mythic, Thunderstorm, Tilt, and Tough Luck on. - 5343cR
We should all pretty much be laughing at this challenge, since it is so easy and since most of us run this level all the time. Flip on all the skulls you need, turn it to Legendary, load up the mission, and read through this guide. The guide will show you how to run through the level in about seven to eight minutes. There is a video here as well. It is super easy to do but might take a few tries if you have never done it before. Glitching through the gate with the Fork Lift can also be hard sometimes, but once you know the spot, you are set.

Chaddlesby's Justice - Avenge your teammates' deaths 3 times in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1360cR
You can "avenge" a teammate in multiplayer Matchmaking by killing whoever killed them right after your teammate's death. You should tentatively be able to pull this off in a single game but sometimes the "Avenger" medals are a little hard to make appear. There is some sort of time limit on the medal so if you do not "avenge" your teammate fast enough, no medal for you. Now, this does not need to be done in a single game, so you can spread this over a bunch of games if you are not having any luck.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/3/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:
One Spartan Army - Kill 100 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2000cR
This challenge will require you to complete a single game of Firefight Matchmaking, preferably in the Score Attack playlist. A typical game in that playlist gives you about a hundred and twenty kills which should be well over the required a hundred kills unless my math really sucks. 2X Score Attack and Gruntpocalypse are the fastest and easiest gametypes so I would take one of those two on a small map if the option was presented.

Single Wield - Earn 100 kills with small arms weapons in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 3000cR

A hundred kills with small arms weapons in multiplayer is a very tall task for a single day. The category of small arms weapons consists of the Magnum, the Needler, the Plasma Pistol, and the Brute Spiker. You will not see the Spiker to often so you need to focus on the other three. Certain playlists really cater to small arms weapons kills. Anything in the Anniversary playlist is great cause the Magnum is back to being severely over-powered. SWAT Magnums is a great gametype if you can get it in the Team SWAT playlist and you might also want to try Multi Team if you can get Elite Slayer since one of the starting loadouts has the Needler. Expect this to take at least ten games.

Roast 'em, Toast 'em - Kill 10 enemies while jet-packing in Exodus on Normal. - 2400cR
What you will do for this challenge is to load up Rally Point Alpha on Exodus on Normal. This will load you up right before you get the jetpack. You just need to score ten kills while jet-packing, not while jumping or fall. The kills must occur when you are actively using the armor ability. Grenade kills count when the target dies, not when the grenade is thrown. There are quite a few Grunts and some explosive barrels near them that should get you some very easy kills.

Iron Will - Complete a Campaign mission alone on Heroic or harder with the Iron Skull on. - 2500cR
The Iron Skull, when active has two different effects. If you are playing solo, anytime you die the mission will completely start over. If you are playing with a teammate and someone dies, it will restart to the last checkpoint. Since you are forced to play this one solo, any death will restart the entire mission. This means that this mission is a great reason to do a speedrun of Nightfall. You can run through the entire mission in about eight minutes and a guide can be seen right here. If you do not want to run Nightfall, Winter Contingency is also a good level to run-through.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/2/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:
Fire When Ready - Kill 30 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1100cR
So it is all multiplayer Matchmaking today, just as yesterday was all Firefight Matchmaking. It is a redundant pattern, but at least it is a pattern. Thirty enemies will be easily taken care of by the other challenges. So, in total, not much to worry about today and just do the other challenges as you normally would. Move along.

T-Hug It Out - Kill 6 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2400cR

To get a close quarters combat kill, you will need to kill an opponent via an Energy Sword, Gravity Hammer, Melee, Assassination, Melee with a bomb or skull, or a Shotgun. Grifball is easily your best option for this challenge as every kill in the playlist is basically a close quarters combat kill. Also, since you will typically get about thirty kills a game, it is even more appealing. Living Dead is also a great option if you stick to the using a shotgun as a survivor. Pick your poison for this one.

Triple Thrill - Earn any 3 Sprees in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2000cR
A spree in multiplayer Matchmaking is five kills uninterrupted by death or the end of a round. Getting three in any gametype is generally a challenging and frustrating experience. Living Dead is a viable option for this challenge since, as a survivor, sprees are entirely common. Now, this challenge does not state that the said spree have to be killing sprees, but they most likely do need to be. Play a game of Living Dead and get a spree as a survivor. If it awards you two sprees for the challenge, then you can get any type of spree for the challenge. If it awards you one, then they must be killing sprees. Team Objective is also a good playlist for this challenge as you can bushwhack players going for the objective and rack up some nice sprees.

Put Your Quarter Up - Complete 10 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1500cR
Ten games will be the crux of the challenges today. On the bright side, you do not have to win the games, just complete them. Now, you cannot be kicked, drop, or quit from a game for it to count towards completion of this challenge. You will need to go out of your way for this one as the other Weekly Challenges will only account for maybe three or four games today. Grifball and Team SWAT have short-ish games but they can also be very long. Team Slayer might also be ideal if you are just looking for a regular game.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 3/1/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:
One Spartan Army - Kill 250 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 3500cR
You should have absolutely no problem hitting this challenge today as you will likely be play two games of Firefight Matchmaking in the Firefight Arcade playlist for the "Flat Tire" challenge. The amount of kills you will get in these games is likely to vary and you will probably be playing a single game of 2X Score Attack in the Score Attack playlist to finish off the "Demon" challenge. Seriously, do not worry about this challenge this challenge because it is practically already done.

Flat Tire - Kill 10 enemy vehicles in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2343cR

This challenge has become a lot easier now since, with the last Matchmaking update which occurred in February, Dropships are now back in Firefight Matchmaking. This makes Sniper Fight a prime candidate for this challenge. I would not venture into Score Attack today, for these challenges as Dropships did not return to that playlist except for the final wave of each game. You will want a map like Beachhead which almost always has Ghosts or Wraiths dropping for you to kill. Expect this to take two games at least.

Demon - Kill 30 Elites in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2400cR
This challenge is slightly the wild-card today. Not because it is difficult, but because it is a mystery in terms of how long it will take. Basically, you will definitely score some Elite kills while working on the "Flat Tire" challenge but that amount is variable. You may even finish the challenge in that time, but likely not. So, after you have finished "Flat Tire," load up a game of 2X Score Attack. The final wave in this gametype consists entirely of Elites. You will get to kill about twenty or more and that should definitely complete this challenge for you. So really nothing too hard today.

A Simple Spree - Earn any spree in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2000cR
A spree in Firefight Matchmaking is ten kills uninterrupted by death. This should be a common, regular occurrence for anyone playing in Firefight Matchmaking. You should get this on ten Grunts on you very first kills in the match. These are simply free credits, like the "One Spartan Army" challenge and should be done while working on the other challenges.
