Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 2/6/11

Fire When Ready - Kill 50 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • Not at all a hard achievement.  You will probably get it during the course of getting the "Streaky Shooter" challenge.  Just pick a playlist you enjoy and grind it out.
Leadership Element - Kill 30 enemy leaders in Campaign today. - 1200cR
  • My favorite level for killing enemy leaders has always been Long Night of Solace.  If you load it up at Rally Point Bravo, you can rack up the kills quite easily once you get to the bridge.  If needed, keep restarting the level from that spot.  And the challenge does not set a requirement for difficulty so you can set it on normal and easily finish the challenge.
Blast Radius - Kill 20 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with grenades. - 1400cR
  • Should be able to get this in one game of Gruntpocalypse.  You will have to pick up a lot of plasma grenades and do not be afraid to die to get a new set of frag grenades.  Stickies are best though, since if you can stick a grunt in a cluster you can get high numbers.
Streaky Shooter - Earn 5 sprees in multplayer Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • This one will take the longest of today's challenges.  Five kills without dying is a "Killing Spree" and that continues up till twenty kills in sets of five.  Most likely you will only be getting "Killing Sprees," which is fine.  I would recommend Team Objective, since the focus of the playlist is not simply killing the other team.  Hang back and try to pick people off as they go for objectives.  Using this strategy you should have no trouble getting five killing sprees.
Last day to complete the Weekly Challenge.  See it here.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 2/5/11

Fortified Court - Kill 1000 enemies on Courtyard in Firefight Matchmaking. - 3500cR
  • Stick to Score Attack for this one.  This will take about nine games of Gruntpocalypse but that is the best route.  Firefight on Courtyard will take you about twice as long but you will not net twice as many kills.  Just be patient with this one, though it will seem like it takes forever.
Three Dog Fight - Earn a Triple Kill in Multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1000cR
  • Not too hard of a challenge.  Stick to Multi Team, SWAT, or Team Objective.  Use your grenades and hang back from the high traffic areas.  Go in for that last kill if you need to.  Do not be afraid to die to get the triple.
Showtime - Earn 5 assists in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1000cR
  • Another simple one.  Stick to Multi Team of Team Objective and you will probably get this in a few games.  If you are having trouble, stay near a teammate and simply stop trying to kill the enemy when they are almost dead.  Let you teammate finish them off and voila.  You will be done in no time.
Up Close and Personal - Kill 5 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1000cR
  • This one isn't too bad as well.  Melees, Beat Downs, Assassinations, Sword Kills, and Hammer Kills all count as close quarters combat.  Shotguns also count but, I believe, only from a particular distance.  Multi Team is great here but any Team playlist is fine on a small map.

Halo Reach Daily Challenge Guide - 2/3/11

The Challenges:
Heroic Killagruntjaro - Earn 10 multikills in a Firefight Matchmaking game on Heroic or harder. - 1000cR

  •  The challenges today are pretty easy.  In fact, I would suggest going for three of them at once.  This challenge, "That Pink Mist," and "Heroic Holdout" can all be done in one game.  Head for Score Attack and pick Gruntpocalypse on Holdout.  Quick headshots with the DMR.  This is really a piece of cake.
That Pink Mist - Kill 20 enemies with a Super combine from the Needler or Needle Rifle in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1650cR
  • This challenge might be a little more difficult to do in one game but it is definitely possible.  Try to get this as you go after "Heroic Killagruntjaro" and "Heroic Holdout."  Any time you get hit by pink needles, kill whoever shot you and use their weapon.  Remember that you do not need to shoot a full clip to kill one grunt.  It is closer to half a clip.  Try to get close so the grunts are less likely to dodge your needles.  This might end up taking two games.
Heroic Holdout - Kill 100 enemies on Holdout on Heroic in Firefight Matchmaking. - 2000cR
  • Score Attack, Gruntpocalypse, Holdout.  Done in one game.  You typically get about a hundred and twenty kills in Gruntpocalypse.
Flat Tire - Kill 10 enemy vehicles in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • This one might take some time.  Enemy vehicles are seen on Beachhead, Outpost, Holdout, Glacier, Overlook, and Corvette.  Your best bet here is Beachhead which has Wraiths and Ghosts.  All other maps just have one type of vehicle dropped.  You also cannot play Score Attack for this because the there are no enemy vehicles in that mode.  Go for Beachhead and Sniperfight.  Ghosts take two shots, Wraiths take about four.  Remember to shot the body of the vehicle and not where the pilot is.  You might end up just killing the driver instead of the vehicle and then it does not count.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 2/2/2011

Huck It, Luck It - Complete a Campaign mission on Heroic with Cloud, Tough Luck, and Catch on. - 2500cR
  • ·         You should know the drill by now.  Load up Winter Contingency with these skulls and it should be quite easy.  With these skulls on, it becomes the same exact difficulty of regular Score Attack, except that you do not have to kill everything except in two spots.  If you do need help, consult the LASO guide very loosely.  This should be a walk in the park, though, just like the next challenge.
A Walk in The... - Kill 100 enemies on Beachhead in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1500cR
  • ·         Since you only need a hundred kills on Beachhead, you can load up Gruntpocalypse or just regular Firefight Matchmaking.  Sniperfight is always the best for this, since you can just stay at the base while all the enemies land at distance.  This level with Sniperfight is great for getting rounds completed without dying.
You Want This, Don't You? - Earn 14 kills with precision weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1400cR
  • ·         SWAT, Team Snipers, or any playlist with Slayer DMRs/Pro can get you this achievement if you are good.  For most players, getting fourteen kills might be difficult.  If that is the case load up Team Objective and go for matches where you can find the DMRs, Needle Rifle, or Sniper.  Use them and abuse them.  Do not go for the objective, just for kills.
Go Right Ahead Folks - Earn a First Strike in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1250cR
  • ·         First Strike can be annoying to get.  A lot of it might depend on where you spawn.  But, in fact, First Strike does not go by the first kill of a game, but the first kill of a round.  So head for Objective game types with rounds and every round, you have a chance of getting a First Strike.  Playlists with multiple rounds are One Flag CTF, One Flag Pro, and One Bomb Assault.  Living Dead also has multiple rounds.

The Challenges:
Harder than Some - Complete a Campaign mission on Heroic with the Thunderstorm, Famine, and Tilt Skulls on. - 2500cR
  • ·         As usual, Winter Contingency will be best for this.  Thunderstorm upgrades the enemies, Famine means that less ammo drops, and Tilt skull makes enemies stronger.  But at least the games does not have to be on Legendary.  Run through where ever you can (read this to see where) and let Jorge and Carter do most of the work if you are having trouble.  Try to avoid the Elites, but you can take them down with a plasma pistol and a human pistol.  Or a car for that matter.  After you get to the last part be patient and lure the one sword elite back to Jorge so it is distracted.  Then assassinate it and take out the last two with the sword.
Hyper Lethal Vector - Kill 200 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking. - 3500cR
  • ·         Score Attack, Gruntpocalypse.  You will have this done in less than two games.  Pick the right map and you can also finish those games without dying.
Un, Deux, Trois - Win 3 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1300cR
  • ·         Relatively simple.  Just go to any two team playlist and you should have shit done pretty quick.  I would recommend Team Slayer or Team Objective so you have a chance to use the jet-pack armor ability for the "Cook 'em, Clean 'em" challenge.  If you find players you like, and win with, in matchmaking, try to stick with them and get the challenge knocked out quick.
Cook 'em, Clean 'em - Kill 10 enemies in multiplayer Mathcmaking while you're jet-packing. - 1500cR
  • ·         There are two annoying things about this challenge.  1.) You have to get a game that has jet-packs and 2.) you have to actually be jet-packing, not falling during the kill to get credit.  An easy thing to do is tag someone with a sticky and then hit the jet pack.  That still counts as a kill.  Just make sure you are jet-packing when you put the final shot into someone and this can get done in a single game.  Team Slayer and Multi Team will get this done.

Halo Reach Daily and Weekly Challenges Guide - 1/31/11

From now on, unless I forget, I will be posting my guides to the Halo Reach Daily and Weekly Challenges here on my blog.  If you can, please subscribe to either my blog or my Examiner articles and support these postings.

Fourth Horseman - Earn 6 multikills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1200cR
  • ·         Getting six multikills in a single game is quite easy.  Remember that if you got, say, an Overkill, that counts as three multikills, so reaching six is not that difficult.  Griffball will get you this challenge in one game, easy.  Multi Team, SWAT, Living Dead, and Team Objective will also be good for this challenge if you dislike Griffball.  Use you grenades and don't be afraid to get killed going for the multikill.
No 'I' in Team - Earn 6 assists in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1200cR
  • ·         Earning six assists in a game is easy if you don't go for any kills until the challenge is done.  You can go to team Sniper and only shoot at the bodies of opponents while your team finishes him off.  You can also go to Multi Team and get this challenge.  If the map is small enough, run up to the center of the map and melee someone to take down their shields and then let him kill you.  Some will kill the other player right after and, voila!, you have an assist.  Rinse and repeat how every many times necessary.
T-Hug It Out - Kill 15 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 3000cR
  • ·         Three weeks ago, this would have been a difficult challenge.  Now, with the Griffball playlist active, this has become a simple task.  Just load up Griffball and this will be done in one game.
Explosive Ordnance Distribution - Earn 5 kills with ordnance weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1000cR
  • ·         This challenge requires you to get five kills in a lone match with heavy weapons.  This means, Spartan Laser, Rocket Launcher, Fuel Rod Cannon, Grenade Launcher, or Plasma Launcher.  I think the Concussion Rifle might also work here.  Head for Multi Team or Team Objective and these should be doable.  They might take a while but go for objective based games so you have extra time.  Vote for Rocket Race whenever you can.  Whenever someone is off their mongoose, nail them with a rocket.

Weekly Challenge:

That's Dedication, Holmes - Complete 77 games in multiplayer Matchmaking this week. - 11000cR
  • ·         No crazy tricks or strategy here.  Just complete seventy-seven games this week and the eleven thousand credits are yours.  If you want to do it on a per-day basis, that is eleven games a day this week.  Now games, like SWAT tends to have the shortest time, but can become quickly aggravating.  Pick a playlist you like but don't get frustrated.  Mix it up if you can.

There is something here, in this place.....

I swear this place will become active again.

I have been writing a lot, but not blog type stuff.  That will soon change though.  More recently I have found myself stumbling as I write and thinking of stuff that has nothing to do with my subject.  That stuff will be going here.  As well, I will be posting guides for all the daily challenges here alongside my postings on Examiner.com.  I did move up a little and am now dishing out Halo news nationally instead of just in the DC area.

Yah me.
