Halo Reach Daily and Weekly Challenges Guide - 5/7/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:
Light Fare - Kill 100 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 3000cR
Today, you should have no problem completing this challenge, asking you to score a hundred kills in Reach in any game mode you wish, due to the "Heroic Killagruntjaro" challenge. "Heroic Killagruntjaro" is asking you to complete a feat that will require a game in the Firefight Matchmaking playlist Score Attack. In Score Attack, the average number of kills per game is around a hundred and twenty Covenant dead. No issue here, so just move onto the next challenge.

There Are Many Like... - Kill 50 enemies with precision weapons in the Campaign today. - 1500cR

This will actually have to come down to personal preference, as some people like the DMR and other prefer the Sniper. If you like the Sniper Rifle, load up the mission Nightfall on Heroic or Normal and go to town on the Covies. You will have to play through a portion of the level as you will not hit fifty kills in that first area and you might run low on ammo. There will be more ammo and DMRs later on in the level so you are covered. For the DMR lovers, play either ONI: Swordbase or Tip of the Spear on Normal or Heroic. Both levels start you with the DMR but ONI: Swordbase is better for getting spare ammunition. Once you have the kills you need, playthrough to complete or hit "Save and Quit" in the menu.

Heroic Killagruntjaro - Earn 25 multikills in a Firefight Matchmaking game on Heroic or harder. - 1500cR
In Firefight Matchmaking, you will earn a multikills by scoring two kills within a second of each other. This sounds difficult, but is actually quite easy in the right gametype. You can try for either Grunpocalypse or 2X Score Attack. 2X Score Attack will be easier, as the double damage makes you kill everything a lot fast, but in Gruntpocalypse you will get weapon drops on exterior maps which can definitely help you rack up the multi kills. The choice is entirely up to you but it really should not be too challenging. Make good use of your grenades too.

Put Your Quarter Up - Complete 10 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1500cR
Ten games in multiplayer Matchmaking, on top of all the other challenges today, will actually be a little bit of a pain. You do not have to win the games, but just playthrough the entirety of the games. The choices of the gametypes are entirely up to you as no other challenges require you to do anything in multiplayer Matchmaking. Grifball and Living Dead can be some of the faster gametypes, but they can also slow down to a very annoying pace and just become aggravating. Try to stay away from Objective gametypes as well, since they tend to go longer as well. Finally, take a break. Do not do ten games in one sitting. It is bad for you to sit that long.

The Weekly Challenge:
Dedication/Time - Complete 10 Daily Challenges this week. - 25000cR
There is not much explaining that needs to be done for this challenge. You have seven days to complete ten of the Daily challenges, of which you receive four a day. In terms of strategy, there really is not a general strategy besides using the strategies for all the Daily Challenges you encounter. Now, if you start today, the earliest you can finish is Wednesday. As well, if you have not started by Friday, scoring at least two completed challenges on that day, you will be unable to complete this Weekly Challenge. Nothing else really to say here as this is pretty easy. Just complete the challenges using the strategies listed and then after completing ten, Voila!, it will be finished.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 5/5/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:

Covenant-cide - Kill 120 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking. - 3200cR
These challenges today are extremely, extremely easy. Besides this one, they can be done in a single game but we will get to that in a moment. This challenge is asking you to get a hundred and twenty kills in Firefight Matchmaking. In a typical game of Score Attack in Firefight Matchmaking, you will get about a hundred and twenty kills. There is definitely a small room for error as some enemies will kill themselves, dropping that number down a little, while other times you will get a Drop Pod increasing that number. I would personally go for Gruntpocalypse or 2X Score Attack on a large map like Glacier or Beachhead. They do not suicide as much on the larger maps it seems. If you still needs kills after one game, play a game of Crashsite, get the kills you need, and then die or let the generator explode to end the game.

Up Close and Personal - Kill 3 enemies with close quarters combat in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 1000cR
So, hopefully you will be getting this and the other two multiplayer Matchmaking challenges in a single game. If you have not figured it out by looking, that one game should be Grifball. Close quarters combat kills in multiplayer Matchmaking are made with Shotguns, Gravity Hammers, Energy Swords, Melees, or Assassination. The only one of those you cannot do in Grifball is the Shotgun kill. The rest is the only stuff you can do in Grifball. Three kills should be really easy to obtain, especially if you are going after the next challenge.

Three Dog Fight - Earn a Triple Kill in Multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2000cR
Multikills are one of the most enjoyable part of the Multiplayer in most Halo game. Reach is no exception. A Triple kill can be scored by getting three kills, all within four seconds of each other. The gametype, as described above, for this challenge will be Grifball. Multikills, far higher than a Triple Kills, are normally common in this game type. In fact, Grifball is, by far, the best playlist in which to farm Multikills for commendations and such. You should have no problem hammering this challenge out in a single game. Get it? Hammer it out? Ha ha. OK, I promise, no more really bad puns...

Better, Closer, Warmer - Earn at least 9 kills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2343cR
Now, the average number of games you should be getting in a game of multiplayer Matchmaking is around ten to fifteen kills. Since we are playing Grifball for this, and the other two multiplayer Matchmaking challenges, this number will likely be much higher. In Grifball, you should be hitting twenty to thirty kills a game. Regardless, this challenge should be well taken care of and just focusing on the other two will likely get you this one. You will not get a Triple Kill right out of the gate. Since today was so easy, relax and just play whatever you want for the rest of today. I'm sure tomorrow will be difficult.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 5/4/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:

Blastin' and Relaxin' - Kill 180 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 2343cR
Now, this is a challenge that you will need to go out of your way to complete today as all the other challenges will not combine to complete it, not by a long shot. The other challenges only require you to play four games, at minimum and, even if you are playing Grifball, you still will not get enough kills. My advice is that, once you get all the kills from the four games of multiplayer Matchmaking, just play a game of Firefight Matchmaking in the Score Attack playlist. Aim for Gruntpocalypse or 2X Score Attack as they are easiest. You may need to play one more game after that for ten or twenty kills but that can be Crashsite or another multiplayer Matchmaking game.

Came From Behind - Perform 2 Assassinations in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2200cR
So, it is best if you try for this while working on the "Participation Counts" challenge, since you only need to complete games for that one. As you should know, you score an assassination by getting behind an opponent, holding down the melee button, and completing a majority of the assassination animation. Scoring two in a game actually is not all that hard. Pick a gametype like Team Snipers and you should have no trouble getting Assassinations on a small map. In Team Snipers, players tend to lose focus of their surroundings and become very easy targets to assassinate. As well, assassinating on an incline will make the animation go much faster.

Multiplier - Earn 3 multikills in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 3000cR
This should be easily done in any playlist as you do not need any great amount of Multikills, just three. Now, you will get a multikill whenever you get a set of kills separated by no more than four seconds of each other. As well, you can stack multikills upon each other for this challenge. You just need three separate multikills for this challenge, like three Double Kills, two Double Kills and a Triple Kill, or a Double, Triple Kill, and an Overkill. Most commonly, people will probably get the three Double Kills or the two Double Kills and a Triple Kill. If you are having trouble getting these in normal multiplayer Matchmaking, try for some Grifball. Grifball will allow you to get a crap ton of multikills in a game, well over four, and also a bunch of kills for the Blastin' and Relaxin' challenge.

Participation Counts - Complete 4 games in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 2400cR
So, instead of asking the player to win a certain number of games today, the player simply has to complete four games. These can be any gametype you want but it would be best to aim them towards the other challenges that you must complete today. Now, you must actually complete the games, however. Getting kicked, dropped, or just quitting out will cause the game to not count towards the challenge. You do not have to win the game, just complete it. Once you have the other challenges done, Teams SWAT tends to have the fastest games, though only on small maps.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 5/3/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:
Shootin' and Lootin' - Kill 250 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 3800cR
The challenges are quite easy today and can be accomplished in just three games. The other challenges today will take one games to complete but this one, asking you to get two hundred and fifty kills today will force that second and third game. In Score Attack, you will get about a hundred and twenty kills per game, plus or minus about two or three kills. This will have you about ten kills short of your goal after two games. What you can do is pick a game of Crashsite in the Score Attack playlists and, once you have the kills you need, die or let the generator explode to end the game. You can also just play a multiplayer Matchmaking game to get the kills. The choice is yours.

Hyper Lethal Vector - Kill 100 enemies with headshots in Firefight Matchmaking. - 3000cR
This challenge can be accomplished using any headshot capable weapon, i.e. the Sniper Rifle, the DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle), the Magnum pistol, or the Needle Rifle. You will already be using the pistol for the "Be Their Huckleberry" challenge and after that, the DMR is probably your best bet. The best gametype for both challenges is Gruntpocalypse as every enemy in that gametype can be taken down by a headshot with ease. Ultras will take two headshots, but that is still easy. Will get done in a single game.

Be Their Huckleberry - Kill 50 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with the pistol. - 1500cR
Like was said above, Gruntpocalypse will be your best bet for this challenge as your only weapon loadout will be the DMR and Pistol. Use the pistol first and bang out these fifty kills. Headshots should be your primary method of dispatching enemies as it is the fastest method and will help you finish "Hyper Lethal Vector" in a single game. This should only take you one game and you should be done with this challenge around the start of the third wave. Get to killing those Grunts.

The House of Blue Leaves - Kill 88 enemies in a single Firefight Matchmaking game on Heroic. - 2500cR
In the game you are already playing for "Hyper Lethal Vector" and "Be Their Huckleberry," you will be getting about a hundred and twenty kills that game. Well, that sure takes care of this challenge. You will let it slide if I write nothing else for this challenge, right?

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 5/2/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:

More Than a Handful - Kill 77 enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 3500cR
Lots of, actually, short challenges today that should not take a lot of time. This one will actually probably be the longest one as all the others will only require one game in their respective game modes. After you have completed "Explosive Ordnance Distribution," work on this challenge. You should be scoring about twelve to fifteen kills per game in multiplayer Matchmaking but upwards of twenty to thirty in gametypes like Grifball. Play with some friends and this will be really easy.

A Satisfied Thirst - Kill 100 Grunts in Firefight Matchmaking. - 1500cR
The best way to complete this challenge is to play through a game of Gruntpocalypse in the Score Attack playlist. In Score Attack, you will typically get a hundred and twenty kills per game and Gruntpocalypse makes it so you only face Grunts. Clearly, this challenge is not all that challenging and just requires you to know the proper gametype and playlist. Should, clearly, be done in a single game.

Points Pyramid - Score 60,000 points on any Campaign mission. - 17500cR

The best way to complete this challenge is to do something I call Banshee Hunting. Basically, you will start the level New Alexandria on Heroic with the Iron, Tough Luck, Catch, Famine, and Thunderstorm Skulls on. You will hop in the Falcon at start and just go around killing all the Banshees and Phantoms that you see. This should take about eight minutes to complete as once you get to about fifty thousand points you can just Save and Exit the game and you should get a time multiplier. It does not always kick in so perhaps just play it safe and hit sixty thousand naturally. Video of the method can be seen here. Do not complete the objectives, do not die, and do not bitch to me about it taking too long if you didn't turn all the Skulls on.

Explosive Ordnance Distribution - Earn 3 kills with ordnance weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game. - 2000cR
Explosive Ordnance weapons, in Firefight Matchmaking, will include the Rocket Launcher, Grenade Launcher, Concussion Rifle, and Fuel Rod Gun. As these are typically the more sought after weapons in a game, you will need to find a gametype that just gives you any of these weapons automatically. Your best bet is the Action Sack playlist. Aim for gametypes like Dino Blasters (Concussion Rifle) or Splockets (Spartan Laser and Rockets). As you only need three kills in a game, these gametypes make this extremely easy. You can do this in most other playlists, but it will just be a lot more challenging.

Halo Reach Daily Challenges Guide - 5/1/12

Please subscribe above this and/or follow me on twitter! Have any ideas or comments about the challenges? Post them down below!

The Challenges:
Shootin' and Lootin' - Kill 250 enemies in any game mode in Reach. - 3800cR
The other challenges today should have this challenge covered as two-hundred and fifty kills is not hard to get in the first place. You will likely get two-hundred and forty kills from the "Be Their Huckleberry" challenge in Firefight and then twelve to fifteen kills in multiplayer Matchmaking for the "Chaddlesby's Justice" challenge. The "Chaddlesby's Justice" make actually take multiple games which should really help cement this challenge down.

Be Their Huckleberry - Kill 200 enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with the pistol. - 1500cR
The pistol is really an underutilized in Firefight Matchmaking by most of the population, though I would rather use a DMR to be honest. Now, the best way to complete this challenge will be to play Gruntpocalypse in the Score Attack playlist. In Gruntpocalypse, the only enemies you will see are Grunts and the weapons you are given are the DMR and the Pistol, I believe. Honestly, I could be wrong on this one. You get about a hundred and twenty kills per game in Score Attack, so you should expect to play two games for this challenge.

Linked up with Bungie.net - Link your gamertag with Bungie.net and play a game in Halo: Reach Matchmaking. - 3000cR
Well, who knows how the hell this challenge is going to work today since Bungie no longer has any connection to Halo Reach. The servers are now completely under control of 343 Industries and have no connection to Bungie. There may be something on your account save data that says you were connected to Bungie.net, but that means that no one will be able to connect after the 31st of March and have it work for the challenge. I have to leave for work soon, but comment in at the end of the post if it works for you or if the challenge is changed. I would assume it will get changed.

Chaddlesby's Justice - Avenge your teammates' deaths 5 times in multiplayer Matchmaking. - 1600cR
To avenge a teammate you, unfortunately, need to let them die first. After your teammate has been killed, shortly kill the player who killed your teammate. There does seem to be a time limit on it but it was never explained what it was. You can easily accomplish this in any playlist and gametype, short of Rocket Hog Race. These can be done over multiple games so do not worry about getting these all on your first try. Try not to be a dick and let your teammate die on purpose. They will die regardless, unless someone scores a perfection, but do not go out of your way to not help your teammate for this challenge.
